おめでとう!I am just a couple levels ahead of you and feel like a very good-looking genius whenever I can suss out a jukugo word on my own.
NHK Easy really seems to be the top choice for listening comprehension practice (my biggest 欠点), but I’ve been trying to reduce my news consumption (( T_T)\(^-^ )) and have been searching around for less topical sources. I know there are a ton of popular podcasts and YT channels!
yess finding lighthearted content is good too! I found a yt channel all about bugs that I’m enjoying, I can’t catch all the language but it’s still fun! Maybe it’ll be your thing! https://www.youtube.com/@ひよりの虫日記
This is definitely For Me!! I was at a bug museum just last weekend. Thank you for the recommendation! (I was very delighted to learn 虫 so early and then the perfection of 毛虫 made me laugh)
Good job. One tip, don’t go too fast or you’ll burn out and have tons of reviews piling up when they become enlightened. I suggest taking breaks from lessons every now and then and focus on reviews instead.
Congrats! I’m also trying to get more active in the community as I’m finally finishing up clearing my stack of reviews coming back from a break Hopefully being active can help us, or at least me, stay committed
Quick edit: I see some discussions around listening in the thread, I’ve found Nihongo con Teppei and Slow Japanese by Mochifika useful as I can’t even begin to understand the speed of NHK listening, even in simple articles Probably won’t be too useful to stick with for a long time, and better to jump to NHK / still consume plenty of NHK to not get too used to the abnormally slow speech from these resources, but definitely check them out if you also feel discouraged from the faster speech of NHK!
