Just a little problem

Hii, so from level 1 to 7 I’ve been learning on smouldering durtles before realising that wanikani is more optimised but my problem is about the “context sentences” section. In fact I don’t think it’s a big deal but 70% of the sentences contain kanji of my current level that I’ve not learned yet :face_with_bags_under_eyes:. Is it the same for everyone or I modified settings that I didn’t have to change ?

Hi,

I also sometimes have some unknown Kanji from the same Level in the sample sentences, but I would say it is more of a rare occurrence for me.

I never really modified any settings. When you take new lessons, do you use the „start lessons“ button, or do you use „Advanced“? I usually go through „Start lessons“ until I have completed a Level and then clean up the rest of vocabulary using „advanced“.

I hope this helps at least a little bit.

It is the same for everyone.

The example sentences are mostly there to show the real-world usage nuances of the words, and unfortunately, that can’t really be done while only using the rather scattershot vocab with which WK starts.

Unfortunately, that makes the sentences less useful to beginners, since the Japanese is too difficult to truly read at that point.

But for situations like wondering why something uses 観る (みる - to view), and not 見る (みる - to see), WK adds a few sentences to show actual use cases, in an attempt to give you an idea of when you might use one over the other.

Hi,

Thx for your reply, actually it was just for my recent lessons but now I no longer have this problem (at least less often), I guess it was just bad luck :person_shrugging:.

Have a great day
