I'm new here soooo

I heard from Tofugu that this is a place to learn Kanji, but does it or smth else by Tofugu also teach me a thing or two about putting together a sentence? (edit: pls ignore my username, I didn’t want to use my real user) (edit: the sequel: I found Tofugu’s topic on grammar, holy cow this site has everything XD)

This pretty much only teaches kanji. I have learned about sentences, culture, conversations, grammar, etc. from RocketLanguages.com. It’s a paid site, but extremely good. Of course, there are free sites, too, which I’m sure others will tell you about. I mostly use WK, Rocket, and Japanese from Zero. (You can find from Zero on YouTube.com._

WaniKani is a tool with the exclusive intention of introducing and practicing Kanji and some of the vocabulary that uses it. If you did all the content the site offers, you would have experience with about 2000 Kanji and 7000 Vocab words- but virtually nothing else regarding the language.

It doesn’t teach Hiragana, Katakana, more than a small handful of kana-words, cultural nuances, or offer explicit practice with speaking, listening, or physical writing. And, most notably, it doesn’t teach anything regarding grammar (which seems to be your question here). WK is a fantastic resource for what it offers, and what it offers is vital to being able to begin reading as you can’t get too far if you don’t know any words, but for the mechanics of a sentence it’ll take more than just this site to get familiar.

People in these forums and elsewhere online will likely give some good resources if you’re looking to explore that specifically- or you can check out these forums for other threads relating to grammar. Tofugu’s site I believe also outlines some resources in detail and gives recommendations if you want to snoop around there. I have some personal experience with the Genki Textbooks, Bunpro, and Busuu- but grammar is a little more tricky to teach and it takes some time to find a good-fitting resource.

Hope to see you around here if you decide to stick with WK !

Even if you can’t stick around after level 3, feel free to remain on the forums - you can get plenty of great advice for additional resources to use and general language (and life, if necessary) support.

Yes, the creator behind WaniKani also write in Tofugu.com, which is generally written quite nicely, into details, and far than just about Kanji, about various things about Japanese language.

There is also the discontinued TextFugu.com, if you want to explore this creator. There is also podcast somewhere.
