As we have no objective measures to gauge this by, we will have to agree to disagree because your critiques are a mirror image of mine.
Never mind it isn’t my position to try and enforce rules or moderate content. Mods can just deal with it.
My apologies.
Nooooo wories. I find anki at first had a confusing layout.
The wonderful Nemuitanuki to the rescue! ![]()

Can I call you Nemu? It’s hard to type it out in full hehe ![]()
Your words here make me wonder if you actually tried the LingoDeer Japanese 1 course or their more travel oriented path. LingoDeer has far more learning material than Duolingo, and I say this as somebody who as completed trees on Duolingo. Each lesson has grammar notes, there are specific lessons on forms, there are role-play segments at the end of each group of lessons. The LindoDeer courses are actually mapped to JLPT content too. I’ve not learned anything remotely tourism focussed in LingoDeer so far.
I’m really not sure where this impression of LingoDeer comes from.
Also, depending on the country, it’s barely even possible for under 18 to get a simple job.
From my experience with Lingodeer four years ago. I had no reason to go back to it after that period.
God forbid a platform iterate and improve over four years.
Best to just assume nothing has changed and base all advice on that one experience, eh?
Nemu!
Adorable. Love it

And yet, not a person here claimed that their experience with both platforms is current. I am no exception.
Sorry, did I not clarify?
My experience of both platforms is current. I thought I was fairly clear when I said so.
No, nothing in your earlier messages indicates when you completed the courses you claim you completed.
That actually isn’t true. But I can see why there is a misunderstanding from your point of view.
From a convo I had with a mod before:
That being said I apologise for my initial post, it isn’t my responsibility to judge if these things are against the rules or not, I should have just not posted and left it for the mods to decide!
Maybe they’ll see it the exact way you’ve said and see that nothing wrong has been done
.
Sorry for overstepping! I know you’re just trying to be helpful and so I think you’re awesome for that.
This is nice. We’re all getting along swimmingly
.
That’s my bad then. Will delete my comment
I realise you deleted your link now, but just to clarify:
They DO allow access to the database, but it looks like that deck contains not just the vocab and kanji, which are public, but also the radicals (the names of some of which are proprietary), the the mnemonics (which are 100% proprietary), and the audio (likewise).
While WaniKani’s terms of use allows for scaping of content for certain things, like writing research papers, it doesn’t allow for any redistribution.
maybe santa koichi will read these and give you a few more free levels…
I realise I’m sorely mistaken. So yes that’s on me
it’s ok, mistakes happen dude, you were just trying to help someone in the community that’s the best kind of interaction I see on the forums, when people are trying to help each other.
I don’t think it’s super clear in the rules about linking to Anki decks like that? or at least not clear enough because this is an issue that I think has popped up a few times.
Also I’m surprised that Anki deck is even up as it’s breaching their copyright, I would have assumed it would been taken down (or maybe it keep popping back up!).
Don’t let this discourage you though, helping people is what kind people do, so you clearly had positive intentions.
Hopefully OP has had enough input to be able to work on their Japanese with some of the free resources, Tofugu is a good one also ![]()
bwaaa so true, Using it now. So many useless phrases till we got to “tokidoki hitori de nomimasu” and I thought now I’m getting somewhere…
