… huh that’s really surprising
I came to Gin’s birthplace to look for clues because I wondered if there were any
It seems it wasn’t an altogether useless trip
I’m Kite, an unimportant Hunter (sits)
Gin is my mentor
Gin drove the basics of tracking into me (rigorously taught me the basics of tracking)
The final test in order to gain Gin’s recognition is “to find him” (command), that’s the way it is. This is harder than any hunt.
(どんな狩りより = than any hunt, right?)
As far as I know he is the greatest hunter.
In order to meet up with Gin I’m now traveling the back streets of slum quearters… ( I don’t get what でのたれ死んでいた means)
Page 27
Gin isn’t dead
Your aunt lied to you and it looks like she doesn’t want you to follow in your father’s footsteps

Because I’m going to become a hunter!!
Page 29
Hunters have to do work that animals of the forest fear and dislike
(Not sure about this, just guessing)
Therefore hunters and (their) close animal friends cannot govern the forest (together)
(I’m finding Gon’s speech difficult this page^^)
Kon is already the leader of this forest so… I (we, you?) don’t want to cause trouble
Do you understand…?

(I’m not at all sure what と思う is up to here but this is a guess as to what he’s saying: "If he gave up his child even though he wanted to continue (raising it) then I think the job has to be

The final test is “Search for and find him”(command)
This is harder than any hunt.
He is the number one hunter
Page 34

hehehe a fantastic hunter…
(I’m going to guess he’s saying something like “you’ve had an easy time of it” based on context, but it looks like he’s talking about having experienced hardships)
This ship holds about a dozen hunter candidates
Every year ten thousand times as many capable people attempt the test
Of those only a handfull are selected
Page 37
(Due to?) having having (your?) eyes on the prize even if your comrades die, it’s interesting right, this job.
(^ I’m confused, and tired so this is what I’ve got:p)
Don’t speak rashly… Boy
In this way Gon’s journey to become a hunter like his father, and to find his father, began
“Don’t lose your temper (or of the weather, don’t blow up to a storm)…” the words the captain spoke to himself remained in Gon’s ears
^(something like that)
