I had a bit longer, but when the first few items dropped 2 months after being done, I still tried to do those items, but I kind of struggled keeping it up without the constant reminder of reviews that need to be done.
Hmm .. Itās a slap for me as I have been using Wanikani for almost 11 years.
I know it was all my fault with some resets and slowly progressing and studying.
I said āprobablyā! I didnāt mean to make you feel bad, Iām sorry.
I realize that some people use the website over a very long period but my guess would be that youāre outliers. Statically I would expect that most people drop Wanikani after a few years, either because they move on to other methods of studying Japanese or because theyāve given up on Japanese completely.
Iād expect that most people ādrop outā before reaching lvl 60 and a big part of the lifetime purchase was that it allows them to come back at a later time. I almost always buy a āpermanentā learning resource because I know I have a habit of stopping and getting back to it later.
(I know, ironically I have a 1 year plan here, but thatās only because Iām planning to get the lifetime at the Christmas sale )
Proration only works well if you buy before reaching 1 year. Otherwise, past years arenāt being accounted.
Also, if you manage to get to Level 60, the price of lifetime is 60 USD, and proration could still work well in the 2nd-3rd year.
Thatās good to know, thanks! Both seem like a great deal.
No worries. The slap is by my own hand, not yours. Haha
And yes, I like lifetime subscription, not just wanikani, but also other educational and learning resources. Like owning a physical book.
Other than Iām into my 50 now, thus my memory is not as good as before, also busy with work and life, I need to slow down and to take a break many times, thus need to keep coming back at it.
And once Iām all done, Iām sure I would like to go back to keep it fresh again, like reading an old book.
