There’s a little explanation of the slow start pace in the FAQ. Take a look at the Common First Level “Problems” section in WaniKani Knowledge | What is WaniKani? How do I do this and that? What is life? Find the answers here.
But basically, that’s normal and everyone feels like that at first. Then progress gets much faster and you rarely run out of things you can do later on
I got really mad at somebody for getting an opportunity to go to Japan that I didn’t even though they don’t speak a word of Japanese, so I did around 400 reviews I had left piling up out of spite.
感心 かんしん Admiration - [concept][heart] > sounds like “concept art” you can admire a concept artist.
I guess I’m just too tired, I now realize my mistake… - [feeling][heart]
感情 かんじょう Feeling - [feeling][feeling] feeling, feeling, feeling, feeling, feeling, feeling well feeling
感じ かんじ Feeling - this one is a word i came across many times in the past so i never really thought about it, but i guess the noun for feeling is still feeling.
感想 かんそう Impressions - I stick to the “thoughts” on that one, I ask myself “are thoughts a concept or a feeling?”
These words really do suck though.14 was hardest level so far (i guess that’s 13’s vocab but still)
but to stay on topic, so many reviews ![]()
That’s the spirit! I mean, it sucks that you don’t have your opportunity (yet!) but spite is as good a motivation as anything else ![]()
Thank you! That clears up a lot of my confusion.
totally. I’ve lived in Japan for a year and do a lot of volunteering at the embassy so I was sure I’d get the slot, and then somebody with no prior experience gets to go.
Spite motivates like nothing else. On to N2 Grammar.
I was just about to ask you where you get that concept from.
Maybe your mistake will help me remember it. ![]()
I just got a rude reminder that 会 and 合 look almost the same and are very easily confused if you’ve seen a bunch of one for awhile and then suddenly start seeing a bunch of the other . . .
That always gets me, I guess the whole point of SRS.
午vs牛 and im sure there are tons more later on.
Woke up to 250ish reviews - Got through around 100ish before running late for work.

not the highest score, but it was my biggest review yet (I missed last night’s).
I’m trying to spend less time using Anki for WaniKani reinforcement (falling into the WaniKani trap or WaniKani addiction), which has my scores going down and my level up times going up, but I have a lot more time for grammar. I’ll just let WaniKani’s SRS do what it does best for now, I guess. It’s a good pace for me.
Oh, you know… the usual - typing too fast and making a typo on an easy word, knocking it out of the enlightened category. Also writing “life” instead of “one’s life” for 人生. Oh well.
Still have 30 lessons to do but my apprentice queue is already at 110. I don’t want to overload myself with reviews. I’ve forgotten some earlier items and they dropped back down. I guess that’s the point of SRS.
That’s where the ignore word script has been useful, doesn’t work on mobile though.
those still give me trouble
I leveled up and got 140 reviews at 4 am this morning but then I had to go to school and only just finished them
