TL;DR I’m forgetting grammar points from earlier in Genki 1 - should I be worried/go back through it again?
I’m a little discouraged right now, so I figured I’d make a post airing it out, possibly getting some advice along the way.
I’m on chapter 10 of Genki 1, but decided to do a quick conjugation test since there had been a few points introduced within the last few chapters and I was moving ahead but not feeling super strong with them. (Informal, informal past, informal negative past…)
Suffice it to say, I failed pretty hard.
Maybe I’m going to the book too fast, but it honestly feels like I’m going way slower than I should be sometimes. If I actually stayed on a chapter until I understood it 100% instead of reading a chapter a few times and then moving on I think it would take me a year to finish the book. Granted, I’m self-studying so I don’t exactly have a deadline or anything, but I don’t want to drag my feet either.
I guess some of this might be my personal anxiety, but I never seem to be able to tell “where” I am as far as understanding the language. I could just be a slow learner, but I may somehow be holding myself back.
Thanks for letting me vent 😵💫
