Compared to other languages, how often do Japanese people speak metaphorically?

Bit of a silly question but this has been on my mind lately.

Ummm… I don’t know exactly but I would guess just as much as any other language, maybe…

Yeah, not sure if all langauges can do it or do they? hmm

Not sure if there’s data about usage frequencies of metaphor across different languages, but metaphorical expressions can be used in Japanese just as well as in English.

As a regular, would you like me to fix that title typo from “does” to “do?”

Here’s the Japanese Wikipedia article about metaphor.

As one example they mention 人生は旅だ.

So, I mean, yeah, that kind of thing isn’t that unusual to hear. But maybe someone has seen studies on how much different languages use metaphors.
