今日は2023年8月29日です。
So yesterday I visited my number one choice school for september of next year.
My partner who is a teacher for another coding school went with me to help me spot any red flag.
I liked the school and hope we left a good first impression!
First, the school is only 25 minutes far from home, which is really important to me since public transportation quickly exhausts me (I have sensorial issues, especially with noise).
Furthermore, it was the last open day before back-to-school season, so I didn‘t expect lots of candidates to show up, but besides me there was only another guy, and he wanted to follow a different curriculum than mine (Web developper).
So the teaching manager was really focusing on us both and I asked like a dozen of questions lol.
Mydigitalschool belongs to a group that possess dozens of web schools all around France, so they have lots of partnerships with companies that prioritize hiring their students for paid internships.
I could see the school had MONEY, damn the unit was BRAND new, and so were the chairs and tables, digital tables, and the sofas were SO COMFY. I didn‘t want to leave lol.
Another atout is that their developper curriculum unlike other curriculum doesn‘t have lots of students, between 7-12 a year, which is ideal to have a good learning experience.
TW sexism
What I fear the most is being fem presenting tbh.
We talked with two male students and they only talked to my partner (he is male presenting) first, barely making eye contact to me. They asked him why we were here, and when my parter said we were here for the web developper bachelor, they immediately assumed it was for HIM.
When my partner corrected them and said I was the one interested in the bachelor, they looked at me confused, and one of them even said: “Ah, you are here for the DIGITAL CONTENT CREATION BACHELOR then?”. Pikachu shocked face when I told him that nope, I was here to learn web development.
Well it was to be expected, it is a male dominated field.
Céline, the studies manager, told me last year there was only one female student in the Web Development 3rd year group.
She was very glad I wanted to apply next year for this bachelor, and really wishes they had more female applications.
