Don't read if you haven't read werewolf survival game!
Well if you rearrange the letters of SHITSUREI it spells (w) ER (ewolf) IS THIS U… pretty damning evidence if you ask me

Unless y’all want to read 2 I’m unfortunately fresh out of werewolf game books
High-stake game books for children, on the other hand…
Ah yes, but you see, the letters are gold (?) not silver, so..
I’m actually reading this right now
Oh! How is it? It’s lower on my list than the werewolf survival game book and I’m not expecting a ton from it, but I’m still curious.
Btw, @shitsurei, @soggyboy, could you maybe pack your comments into detail blocks that make clear that they contain spoilers for 人狼サバイバル 1?
It’s not as good as werewolf survival game imo the writing style is very basic. But! (spoilered for comparison to werewolf game) There are actually a lot more players than werewolf game so the deaths are more frequent and you actually get the sense of a large party being slowly whittled down, which is what I was expecting from werewolf game. I think it might be a good first novel for someone who wants something a bit less cutesy than other children’s novels, with higher stakes and some drama.

Will this spoil me anything from 絶体絶命ゲーム?
Nope, just general discussion.
Gotcha. Well… doesn’t sound like a must-read to me, but maybe something for when I want something easier. Thanks!
Yep, that’s basically what it is for me, good read for when you need an easy read that zooms by.
Do I need… even more 夏目友人帳 to read… (If this was chosen to be read I’d join for it in a heartbeat LOL)
If Disney Movie Books count…
English title: Disney Movie Book: Remember Me
Reasoning: it’s a novelization of the movie Coco, which is called “Remember Me” in the Japanese version, so familiar to anyone who has seen (or is willing to watch) the movie.
It is in full furigana. If it’s anything like the other Disney Movie Books I’ve read, the kanji used tends to be grade 1-6, but will include some middle school kanji for common words. Grammar tends to be N4 to beginner N3. Also the Japanese dub is on Disney+ if anyone wants to watch it during/after to test their vocab retention.
I started this one, but hadn’t finished the manga yet, and ended up dropping the light novel adaptation. I’d probably attempt to read along if this one gets picked.
I did not know this was a thing and feel compelled to go buy a digital copy forthwith. (At the very least, I’ll download the 試し読み.)
DeepL has failed us.
In 1985, Marty, a high school student in Hill Valley, unexpectedly travels back in time using a time machine invented by his friend Doc, a scientist. He ends up in the past, 30 years earlier. To return to the future, Marty seeks help from Doc in that era, but his involvement with his younger parents leads to unforeseen circumstances—will the future change into one without him!? This 1985 blockbuster film, filled with dreams, friendship, and adventure, is now available for the first time as a children’s novelization!
It’d say this qualifies as DeepL’s redemption arc.

Available in ebook and physical: I think Bookwalker requires a vpn to purchase this now though. It didn’t require that when I bought it.
One day, Misaki, a sixth grader, is suddenly assigned to raise two-year-old Chinatsu. She learns that Chinatsu has a certain circumstance and a secret special ability, and thinks, "I want to protect this child! I want to protect her!” However, there is an adult who tries to misuse Chinatsu’s ability… and an incident occurs at an amusement park where Chinatsu is taken away! Souta, her childhood friend, and Misaki try to rescue her, but…? This is the first volume of a slapstick heartwarming comedy!

Reason to nominate: This was the first (children’s) novel I read in Japanese and it’s pretty cute. The baby eats donuts and can see the future sometimes. This makes her a little bit of a handful to look after.
The bookwalker version (looked at the free trial) only has partial furigana, so you might want to change that in your description.
Oh, you’re right! Fixed that
Thanks for the nominations everyone! Now, to decide whether to add more nominations for the books I already own in paperback
I have a few more noms but am gonna wait it out and not flood the slate with just my picks. But if no one else nominates a book I have so many so watch out!

The bookwalker trial doesn’t have furigana at all. Maybe there are different versions? (yeah, I’m the furigana police. I’m probably the only one on wanikani who still doesn’t know kanji ).
I think the Natively link links to a non furigana version, the one on amazon jp has furigana and I think I found the same edition also on bookwalker?
