Can anyone explain the difference between the wa and ga particles, or a topic and subject?

Hey! Welcome to Wanikani and the Wanikani Community!

I also asked this question not too long ago.

は tells us the topic of the sentence and puts emphasis on it, what comes after the は is considered a topic. In this case below it is 学生

私は学生です (I am a student)

が does the opposite it puts emphasis on the subject of the sentence rather than the topic.

が学生です (I am a student)

I hope this helps, I am myself am a beginner and need a lot of studying to do. You should doublecheck what I said just in case
