Average daily load

Hi,
For the proposed two years to finish this, how long would I need to study every day?

Thanks.

As for your question;

There have actually been several threads about exactly this in the past and the consensus appears to be about two to three hours per day at worst. You’ll obviously require less time to begin with, but as you progress higher through the levels you can expect to have maybe a hundred reviews per day to complete and so your time taken will depend entirely on how long this takes you, how many reviews you get correct, and how long it takes you to do the 10-20 lessons per day you’ll need to do to keep up with those.

Welcome! :slight_smile:

It will depend on how fast you go, but usually between 1 to 2 hours. Another thing to consider is that the kanji in the first 30 levels are much more frequent than the kanji in the last 30 levels, so it might be worth considering doing the first 30 faster than the 2nd.

If you’re considering using Wanikani, I recommend reading my guide. It will teach you pretty much all you need to know about the platform :slight_smile:

Japanese is not an easy language to learn for English speakers. I’d suggest that anyone attempting needs to spend at least an hour a day if they want to make any progress. That should include other study besides Kanji though.

For WaniKani alone? I probably spend about an 45mins- 1hr per day and should complete it in a little over 2 years.

I’ve been spending 1.5-2 every day on WK. Took a 2 months break from lessons after lvl 30. I’ll be done with lvl 60 in about a week completing all levels in just under 2 years total.

I’m leveling up in 8-9 days on average.
