Additional Resources - Slow Pace

Hi to all,

I’m a slow pacer here in WaniKani.

Started first of January (2026 goals) and getting close to end of March, I’m barely at level 5.

That’s fine for me, I’ve set up 5 lessons a day, and this is a pace I can cope up with. Between work, family, and life, this is the amount of time I can invest daily 100% guaranteed to WaniKani.

However in May and June I will be on a work assignment abroad, which means I will be 2 months on my own, with almost none social life and family interactions
So I was planning on using the time to deep dive into Japanese. I bought myself Genki level 1 (both books), and my idea was to dedicate at least an hour per day to Genki (+ youtube videos to support Genki).

Do you recommend me any other additional resource? I know many people use Anki around here, and some also Bunpro. I tried Bunpro but due to my “lack” of time, it was almost a no-go. Too much complexity for me to grasp in a 10 minutes pause.

Thank you for reading, and will be happy to hear your thoughts

If you are okay with computer-based,

is free and great from absolute beginner, through to N5/N4 levels (though it does not target JLPT).

I can feel you, my pace on WK is the same as yours. For the occasional additional reading, I use the free version of Makoto: https://makotoplus.com/
