Hopefully the ABBC will chose read the second volume when we will be done with the granny-kid manga (don’t remember the name lol)
With second volumes, they won’t ever be picks ABBC, that wouldn’t be good for those that didn’t want to read the first one either. Instead there likely will be an offshoot club that goes through the volumes parallel to the ABBC, like how there’s one for for example Horimiya right now

If you read Ruri Dragon with the threads from last year at a decent speed, you’ll probably be ready in time of us starting volume 2

Hi there ! I’d like to nominate a short story I’m reading at the moment, but I’m reading it in a bilingual edition who is more expansive than the short stories collection in which the text has been published.
My question being : in my nominating post, do I recommend the collection of short stories or the bilingual edition I’m currently reading ?
As a reader, I would say that I would care about which edition is easiest to find, both physical and online, so that most people can participate
My suggestion is to nominate the monolingual edition, but also mention the existence and provide links for the bilingual edition too. This way the people that want to participate can decide which edition they prefer to use.

Here’s my (probably) obvious light bulb moment for ABBC:
It’s OK to get frustrated with manga grammar. Just because it’s the ABBC doesn’t mean that understanding grammar points from ~N5-N4 will mean a seamless breeze through.
I realized this last night while going through an older club title, Ruri Dragon. It’s a great title, but I’m struggling sometimes. The forum discussion is extremely helpful, although I’m still learning, so not everything clicks immediately.
Absolutely.
Any native material will be incomprehensible to some degree no matter how much grammar and vocabulary you’ve learned.
And the casual speech of manga only compounds that.
Always expect manga you’ve never read before to be a challenge in deciphering rather than reading until you’ve gained enough experience in reading similar manga.
becoming comfortable with ambiguity or straight up just not knowing things is essential for reading in any language, but especially in your learner one!
