🍁 2026 Autumn Equinox 24-hour Readathon - 秋分

For once I can start on Saturday and not on Friday (my usual - wow, I can say “usual” now - Readathon availability is Fri-Sat), but we’ll see how restless I’ll feel on Friday :joy:

technically nothing is stopping you from reading for 48-72 hours and picking the best continuous 24 hour period within that window with the highest stats for reporting
:flexed_biceps:

make sure you have enough snacks…recommend bacon choccy cake!

Locking in a spot!
Might even have 24 hours to work with, Saturday afternoon to Sunday afternoon.
I think I will consider getting a good night sleep this time around, but we’ll see.

I will be reading マスカレード・ゲーム if I haven’t finished it before.
Then I think I will start on ファイナルファンタジーIV ジ・アフター -月の帰還- and either play that the whole time or read 変な家(2).

Okay. My plan for now is doing a sat-sun session.
I think choosing material this time around will be easy:

  • Finish out 光の帝国 (37 pages in my edition)
  • Finish out 獣の奏者II (~70 pages probably)
  • If I feel like it, some (few) pages of Slam Dunk

Given my speed that should be 6-7hours of reading. A bigger target this time, but I think with the books being nearly done I can hit that.

Additionally all my usual weekend prep for N1 I want to do as well. But I won’t count that towards the total.

It’s already here!! This will mark my 4th consecutive readathon, which means that I’ll have collected the full seasonal set! I’m also on a 250+ day streak of reading, so I’m feeling really good about stamina and willpower. Last season I adopted a puppy the day before the event, so my goals fell a little flat. Puppy is in fact still a puppy, but I have a much better idea of how to handle him and how much time I can allocate to myself for reading.

I have a rare Saturday and Sunday off, though it is after what is arguably the busiest week of my year. I think my strategy will be to start late Saturday evening so that I’m not tempted to stay up too late on Sunday to cram more reading in. I’m going to try to set more realistic goals based on puppy mom life, and I might need to adjust them based on what I read this time.

Not sure what I’ll read just yet, but it’ll likely either be the light novel I’ve just started or perhaps a manga series I have a lot to work through. Will update this post once I’ve decided!

Lastly, I need to better plan out meals and snacks because I did not really do so last time. Wanna also make sure I get chores and the like done the day before so my day is free!

A new puppy!! They are so wonderful, but they

do take a lot of training and play time. Good luck with your reading and snacks.

I’ll be doing this on Sunday 20 = 2026-09-19T20:00:00Z→2026-09-20T20:00:00Z

Honestly I don’t want to decide books of choice in advance, but most probably old novels / LN to catch up.

Goal: 5-10 hours / 100 pages

(e-book pages are counted from my foldable for the sake of simplificity, prob not much difference from physical books)
(⅓ × pages if manga, again, for the sake of simplicity)

As long as next week isn’t any worse than this week, I should be good to participate, though I’ll be one of the latest to start, late afternoon on Sunday, Central Time (exact time TBD day-of). My only goal is to try and read as much as I can of whatever I’m in the mood for that day in those 24 hrs.

I won’t be doing any gaming, as I have no way to determine how many characters I read. I’ll count it for the Read Every Day since the important thing for that is that I did read, not necessarily how much of that time was spent reading, but not here. So I’ll be sticking to novels and/or manga. And perhaps that DJ I have that’s a whole-ass 135-pg novel.

Start time: Sunday 20 Sept, 3:24 pm CT

1 ひだまりが聴こえる ーリミットー① 241 01:27

7 ひだまりが聴こえる ー春夏秋冬ー① 174 01:10

After voting for that weekend, I now have to take an extra shift on the Sunday, which is my only day off and was my planned reading day (I’ve allocated it to myself because I write the roster and need to cover it :woman_facepalming:)

If I can count the Monday, I’ll participate then (I’m in Australia so it’s still Sunday for most people). If not, I’ll just try to fit in a couple of hours somewhere.

As long as your 24 hrs start on Sunday in your timezone, you’re good to read on Monday. That’s what I’m doing, too

@Cathm2
Sorry to hear that work has gotten in the way of your reading plans.

Just as @enbyboiwonder pointed out, as long as you start counting your 24 hours of your Readathon on Sunday you can still read throughout Monday.
Meaning, even starting at 23:59 on Sunday is still allowed as long as you finish your Readathon on Monday by 23:59. :eyes:

My goal is simply to read two pages of each of the books I’m reading/listening to at the moment (currently: Convenience Store Woman, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, The Hobbit, and The Fellowship Of The Ring)!

Here is a reminder that the Readathon will take place in less than a week. :open_book:

And speaking of reminders, I’d like to borrow some of @soggyboy 's wise words during the last Readathon when it comes to setting your goals and share with you:

Apart from thinking about possible goals, do you know what you’ll be reading?
Or are you still in the process of scanning your bookshelf or excavating seemingly lost books? :shovel: :books:

Where will you be reading? :couch_and_lamp:

What about snacks and refreshments to accompany your reading? Anything special you’d like to reward yourself with? :rice_cracker: :pie: :chocolate_bar:

You still have time to think about it – or perhaps you prefer spontaneity and wish to go with the flow?

In any case, I’m looking forward to accompaning your 24-hour reading adventures soon.

I’ll be baking a chocolate cake this week specially for Readathon/rEATathon. I’ll be reading at my new study area and very likely have a beagle licking my toes. I am excited about beating my reading high time, but I did kind of overdo it that Readathon. Don’t know if I can do it again or not. I’m not going to melt my brain trying too hard. I’m really eager to be reading the new folktales people have posted here. I do think I can increase my number of sources, so if I do only that, I will be very happy.

Also looking forward to seeing what other people read and think about their reading. Also of course the snack reports.

And also TREATathon! We need to take good care of ourselves :+1:

For my reading, I am a bit behind on the 光の帝国 book club, then there is the 劇場という名の星座 book club that just started, and finally I want to read 三度目の恋 until early November, so I will not run out of reading material any time soon

Love it! Readathon/rEATathon/TREAtathon

We are a creative bunch, aren’t we?

Ok, I won’t be able to read too much this time since I have to work all weekend. My reading hours will be sometime Saturday evening after work and 24 hours later (8pm to 8pm?). On Sunday I’ll sneak in some reading time in between work and church stuff.

My goals for this time is to just get some reading done in between doing stuff. I’m about to go to Japan which means Bookoff will be waiting for me which means I need to make a small dent in the tsudoku pile very soon. And it’s not going well!

this time of year :jack_o_lantern:
plus spooky freezer husband and all :kitchen_knife:
maybe time to break open halloween candy early too! :chocolate_bar:
hmmmm

did start freezer husband and at 5%
and even knowing one spoiler that I accidentally stumbled onto - actually raises more questions - thus pretty great so far
(though omg it’s harder to read than I thought, must get used to new author/writing style again)

Hello! It’s already time for another readathon!? How did that happen??

Since last time I’m definitely more confident with reading thanks to the Read Everyday challenge. However after I completed my two months I decided to take a short break and then focus on setting up sentence/word mining, which I :sparkles: absolutely :sparkles: have not done :sparkles: at all! :sparkles: In fact I haven’t read a single thing in Japanese these last two weeks (I’m sure Pokopia has nothing to do with this!!). I’m pretty annoyed at myself about it so this is the perfect opportunity to kick my butt back into gear.

Last time I read two chapters of Flying Witch 1 and I remember feeling quite tired afterwards  This time I’m sticking with Flying Witch (volume 4) and I’d like to try and challenge myself to read an entire volume in one day which would be 6 chapters, or around 100 pages more than last time. I’d consider 3+ chapters to be a success though!

Wishing everyone good luck with your challenges, I’ll be reading on Saturday and following along with everyone’s updates all weekend and I’m really looking forward to it!

Home post?

I’ve thought about joining in the past but I’m finally ready to jump in to my first Readathon! I’ll be reading すずめの戸締り, which I bought for a club that ended up starting the day I went on vacation :sob:. My main goal is to catch up with the club, which would mean reading three weeks’ worth in one day. If I finish or just get tired of すずめ, I’ll switch to reading my favorite manga right now, 風が強く吹いている.
