Considering you just read like 50 悪役令嬢 light novels I’m amazed this wasn’t one of them. 
Welp, I didn’t realize you just joined Natively. I saw a date from last month and assumed you had just finished it. I suppose I should have searched the topic first and then I would have noticed that you already posted your thoughts on it (to me asking no less!).

I formally withdraw any suggestion I have made to people to read this book
This book was pretty cursed already, but it literally just keeps getting worse. Chapter 13 actually had me feeling emotions I don’t even know what to call. This book is actually just cursed. Its so deeply unsettling and anxiety inducing. All I could think of to describe the change in my mental state while reading is this picture.
Just, don’t read it.

I am waaay too curious for my own good.
Oh, god. Theres honestly no way I can do it justice and give you any sort of impact since I won’t be able to mimic the delivery and buildup, but if you’re just curious from a factual standpoint and don’t want the emotional oomph I gotcha covered.
So we have four characters. MC (guy), Girl #1, Girl #2, and MC’s friend (guy). So MC really likes Girl #1 and Girl #2 really likes MC’s friend. So all good right? Well, MC and girl #2 find out they also have feelings for eachother to a lesser extent and start “dating”. So what they decide to do is essentially secretly date, but also try to help set eachother up with their “first choice” of Girl #1 and MC’s friend respectively. They have like a little pact to break up if one person gets their first choice and to make sure to prioritize helping and getting their first choice. Already kinda a yikers premise, but I mean they’re consenting to this so whatever.
Theres this whole thing about girl #1 and MC being in a club together and doing…less than family friendly games together but I’ll skip over that. So then, it turns out that girl #1 actually does like MC and they knew eachother from quite awhile back. Not only that, but MC was kinda lowkey emotionally manipulative at the time and shes got like mad codependency/attachment issues with him stemming from that trauma. So all good right. Girl #1 should just date MC and the pact between MC and girl #2 will be dissolved, right?
Wrong.
Girl#1 reveals she is actually in a sort of arranged marriage with MCs friend. I’ll spare the details for that, but essentially she could choose to not marry him if she wanted to, but it would cause issues for her family which she doesn’t want to do. Ok, so sure you did some weird illicit games with ya bois fiancee but like sure just call it off there and be together with girl #2, right?
Wrong.
This is where it gets unsettling.
So girl #2, this whole time, has clearly been falling more and more for MC. Its even questionable whether or not she really liked MC’s friend as much as she thought she did, or if it was her mixing up love and admiration. Anyways, she decides that what she needs to do is get MCs friend to fall for her, that way he calls off the marriage from HIS end, and girl#1 doesn’t have to do it herself and cause problems for her family. Its really weird though. She’s basically trying to set the guy she actually loves with another girl while telling herself something else…and well…she starts to slowly break. Like it gets reallllly weird. Shes like trapped between doing whats expected of her, what she expects of herself, and what her heart wants.
So we are sitting there hoping MC will be like “welp ill just give up on girl #1” but the bastard doesn’t. In fact, they decide to have a full blown affair while keeping it a secret not only from the MCs friend, but also from the girl #2.
So lets break this down in more detail.
Girl #1 is engaged to MC’s friend
Girl #2 is dating MC
Girl #1 is having an affair with MC
Girl #2 doesn’t know about the above situation
Girl #2 is trying to seduce MC’s friend because she feels like she has to at this point
Girl #2 is actually in love with MC for real
Oh yeah, did I mention girl #1 literally won’t even let MC’s friend touch her?
So as a result of the above situation, the story has really just been depicting girl #2 just slowly breaking. Her mental just absolutely getting thanos snapped by her cognitive dissonance. Recently MC just basically revealed to her that he has been with girl #1 the whole time, thus betraying his friend and lying to her the whole time…and her reaction was blaming herself for not being sufficient enough. As a result of which, she is now kinda completely off the rails and constantly comparing herself to girl #1 and going overboard trying to be perfect for him. She also admitted that she hasn’t been sleeping and instead stays up doing things MC likes so she can talk to him about it.
I left out a lot, but thats been a very general overview. Theres really no way to describe the discomfort that comes from the things girl#2 says and does. Plus I mean cheating in general is an uncomfortable situation.
Also, oh god, I forgot. Girl #1 man. MC man. These two, I swear. I honestly can’t tell whos manipulating who half the time. It almost just feels like its a game of mc trying to feel manipulated so he can justify what hes doing. But then by doing so, hes basically making girl#1 manipulate him by refusing to give her any attention or love unless she manipulates him for it so he can rationalize it to himself. So its like hes manipulating her into manipulating him to save himself the guilt. Oh my god its gross. He finally admitted it to himself, but then was like “ok time for full blown affair” like thats any better?! Well…Honestly now that I think about it it may be.
For anyone who has seen me talk about 魔法少女育成計画 and was interested, the first three books are on sale for 195 yen each, while volumes 4-13 are about half off. I took this opportunity to purchase volumes 5-6, which I always planned to read, as well as volume 1, which until now I only owned physically.
That’s a lot darker than I thought it would be. 
Then Girl #2 murders everyone. The end.

at this point I really wouldn’t be surprised if that happened I guess, but I don’t think it will. I’d be pretty satisfied with that tho.

Exactly . Minus the explicit level of details, this has some overlaps with the Good Ending manga, but is more complicated. I think I would still read it, though!
I’ve got like 140 pages left or so, but I’ll probably just go ahead and finish it today before I start reading my VN and watch my dramas so I can be done with it. I’ll let you know how it ends (good or bad), but man idk. Like I said earlier this series can’t go on for long because basically the longer this situation goes on the more shitty of people the characters are basically. And then it’s like, if you have a book where you just hate all the characters then what’s the point. Talking with other people who read this, they agreed with me that this series would have been perfect for a two volumer, but it doesn’t look like that’s gonna happen.
Between that and you describing KonoSuba, which I found rage-inducing, as comfort food, I’m starting to feel like we don’t have the same tastes in books. You know, just a hunch 
To be fair, I did not read the spoilers, so I’m mostly tempted by curiosity 
. Dramas are a pretty new genre for me. And sometimes you just want to read stuff that makes you go “WTH?”.
With “comfort food”, I was mostly referring to how quickly I’m able to read it, not that it’s super great. It has it’s fun moments for sure, still.

I do agree with that! Volume 1 still holds the record of the Japanese book I read the fastest.
As if that god forsaken book wasn’t bad enough, I got back to my VN and have to deal with this again
