老女的少女ひなたちゃん・Little Granny Girl Hinata-chan volume 11 thread

Around ten? Depends on if I’m counting one club where I read ahead and I’m on a break waiting for everyone to catch up. Eleven if I do!

So it’s a little late (I’ve been a bit busy and less active on the forum). But I’m currently in a mcdonalds waiting for my bus time so, my thoughts on reincarnation mechanics.

Full series spoilers

So one thing that the series has established is that the reincarnation is an at-birth thing. We had volume 1 and all the clips of the brothers pov to confirm that, Sakuya had said as much too.

At the same time, when the reincarnated soul is fulfilled in some way, it departs, leaving behind… Who exactly? Like we saw Sakuya’s shift in personality a little, but Hinata is also sort of much weirder.

But it’s granny Hinata that the cast came to know and has always been there. So when the granny spirit leaves, while the manga sort of tries to portray it as release/fulfilment/etc. I found it hard not to see it as the Hinata we all knew up until this point dying. Like there’s a new Hinata left in her body, but they’re sort of a new person with just some memories of being weird in childhood. Like Sakuya forgot Miya’s memories after her scene.

I think drawing a comparison to the other blue haired reincarnation girl from a series I like is probably the lens I’m coming from. Like in that one we had Urano be reincarnated into the body of the dying commoner!myne to become protagonist!myne. But I’ve already ready that as commoner!myne is gone and replaced. It’s kind of glossed over as commoner!myne was basically just portrayed as dying and depressed about it, while protagonist!myne is our pov character. But in this one the deleted character is reincarnated!Hinata and what’s left is remnant!Hinata who is sort of a new person.

Anyway, that’s my rant lol
