先回り - 先 meaning not yet taught

Hello all,

I just got to the word 先回り - さきまわり. It says I should have learned already the meaning さき for 先 but I sure cannot recall to have learned it in any other word so far. I’ve only learned せん & まず.

As I’ve just stumbled across this, I thought I point it out, since I haven’t figured a good way yet for myself to remember this word best.

Keep up the good work.

Hmm you should have seen さき on level 4 already (WaniKani / Vocabulary / 先).

I got the purple background for “past” read as ‘sa ki’ on level 5. (am still that level so I see it daily)

Good to know I will see it again in vocab come level 7.

Thanks for the quick find. Seems I’ve forgotten that reading already again, since that kanji hasn’t come up in a while and that reading had not yet been used :frowning:

Cheer up, I just came across two kanji that said “you should know this reading already” for kanji I’d just learnt that level, and I never noticed the alternate readings. Turns out they were right there in the kanji lesson, but I’d just never spotted them.

It’s not a bad thing not paying attention to certain readings. I only pay attention to one reading during kanji reviews, and during a lesson if it uses a different reading I just learn it there. Imo it makes learning the kanji easier so you’re not trying to cram so much info into one thing at once.
