I was on the fence about this book, because I’m already reading Takagi-san & Girls last tour, but I’m going to give this a try.
I have been watching quite a bit of Okayu (a japanese VTuber) recently and I was listening to this song while reading this weeks part and it was almost frighteningly fitting

I got the score I expected, and many others did too (some said they didn’t get their true self, so it ain’t perfect)
じゃない is not always negation. It can be an affirmation depending on the intonation. It will function as something like adding “isn`t it?” in English.
I thought the test would be fun to take, and somewhat relevant to the book topic
Not wholly surprised about my results, but it was a bit heavier on the masculine side than I might have guessed. However, that’s why “gender roles” don’t have to be anything more than what they are - cultural stereotypes. I’ve always been supportive of the mindset of “you be you”, especially defining (or not defining) who you are gender-wise. One of the reasons I was interested to join-in on this read!

I’m having trouble with this sentence on page 26
よく知りもせず調子いいことばっかいって
Here’s how I’m parsing it so far…
よく知りもせず - without understanding well
調子いいこと - 調子いい things
ばっかいって - I’ve only been saying
I looked for 調子いい on jisho and found 調子がいい and 調子のいい, both with the same set of meanings
So at the moment, I’m understanding this sentence as essentially meaning “I was just saying things that suited me/were convenient for me without really understanding them”.
Anyone have a better translation?

I googled around for the phrase and found various things that seemed to involve variations of the phrase ”調子いいことを言う” as a bad thing.
I think the clearest explanation I found is this yahoo answers post. For example, one of the answers:
Q: 調子いいこと言うとは何の意味ですか
A: 相手の望む答えを言うこと。相手の喜ぶ応答をすること。たとえ首尾一貫していなくとも。
It sounds to me like the phrase is about responding to the other person’s expectations to a potentially negative degree, without thinking it through first or saying what you really feel.
So it sounds to me like he’s talking about how he pitched the cafe as a great fit and perfect for Mogumo without really knowing if that was true.
I don’t have a good translation for that though… something like “I got carried away without really knowing the situation…” or “I just said what I thought they wanted to hear…” or something maybe…
