一文字 reading synonym missing?

So during my last review, the item 一文字 came up, and as far as I remembered it, there were two possible readings, いちもんじ and いちもじ. But somehow the latter disappeared, so when I typed it in it got the wrong answer. But since I am 99,9999% sure that both readings were correct when I first learned the vocabulary, and even if I type いちもじ with my Japanese keyboard 一文字 will come up when I press enter, what’s up? Is this a glitch of wanikani or a glitch of my brain?
I know this topic probably came up many times, but this is the first time I am positive both readings were present. Was this beause of updates/changes made to wanikani vocabulary?
I am also checking up Jisho.org, and there it makes a distinction between いちもんじ as ‘straight line’ and ひともじ (??) as ‘one written character’. Now I am utterly confused.
Thank you for replying and sorry for the trouble!

Yeah you’re right. I also distinctly remember the two readings. Now there’s only one reading. I guess they removed it some time ago.

They used to document changes like these in the blog but it’s currently down…

いちもじ isn’t a valid reading for that word. So if WK ever had it, it was wrong and was right to be removed. I don’t remember it having it though.

Presumably it comes up if you type it because the IDE thinks you’re making 2 words without care for grammar.

Yeah, I learned 一文字 as いちもじ (too).

They were definitely both there. But it looks like the reading いちもじ means something different. So it was an invalid reading for 一文字 to mean “straight line” and was appropriate to remove.

KaniWani still has both readings, I guess because they haven’t synced with WK recently:

The last weekly update on WK blog includes:
一文字 - Removed いちもじ from readings

I suspected as much, seeing as it didn’t come up in the dictionary!

Blog does not have https
http://blog.wanikani.com is the way to go

Aaaaahnn. So I guess it’s better to follow the blog from now on. Thank you!

Ah, thank you. I just clicked the Blog link from WK dashboard page. I tried looking in the forum Announcements category too, with no luck. Is there a new link for WK blog?

Edit: okay, http it is then.

I only recently got through that section so I noticed the discrepancy.

文字 has two readings - もじ and もんじ. いちもじ only has the one.

EDIT: I can’t open the blog neither, it always redirects to the https version then refuses the connection.

Some browsers won’t allow you to go to http if you’ve ever been to the https version of the same site. Perhaps that’s the cause.

In any case, I couldn’t reach http://blog.wanikani.com via my Linux browsers (Firefox and Vivaldi). But I could reach it on Windows using IE and Chrome, only then I was redirected to https://wanikani.tumblr.com/

Yep, hit up http://wanikani.tumblr.com for the latest updates. We’re working on getting the blog off tumblr so we can support SSL at the correct URL (and also not be at the mercy of Verizon/Yahoo/whomever acquires Yahoo next).

In case anyone is wondering about why your browsers won’t let you go to the http version of the blog, look up "Strict-Transport-Security header”. TL;DR: your browser and our web servers are trying to protect you.

Oh no… I always typed いちもじ too. Also Google IME accepts this (it just tried to change it into that just now). I probably even burned it that way.

Yep. I burned it back in January.

Time to resurrect it… LIKE A PHOENIX!

Just failed to burn this one… so, the last time I saw it, the wrong reading was still being accepted. I guess I’ve been wrong every single time, technically… Well, at least I’m not going crazy*.
