I’d forgotten how much I enjoy reading these books. Although I have to admit, it’s not the first time I’ve read this section - I accidentally picked up the wrong book last time, and only realised when the decisions were not what I expected when I came to vote.

The crater’s edge, with a colloquial diminutive suffix that makes it feel casual and slightly small/specific.

Voted! I went back to the first scene to try to check if I had missed any clues about which direction the jeep or the zebra were in, but I couldn’t find anything. So I ended up voting for south-west because maybe if we go directly west we’ll run into the same problem of walking directly into the sun later in the day.

This is the most contrived opening to one of these books yet, usually we get separated from our tour group in a sandstorm or blizzard or whatever, but they really just drove away and left us!

Ok, why are none of the options to follow the tire tracks from the jeep!! This kid is trying to get us lost 
Anyways, I assume we shouldn’t walk into the setting sun so I choose southwest.

this is not an orchestrated plot to kill us … definitely not…
Walking off or riding a horse into the sunset is how movies end… mayhaps… going SW is best mayhaps… not… 
at least we aren’t building a sundial to find direction… or is that option soon to be in our future …

West (the one you chose) would be directly into the sun as the sun sets. It’s afternoon because the jeep had to leave before 6pm to accomodate the breeding cycles of the endangered rhino. Ergo, you’re leading us into the sun!!!

This was my thought..
I mean, eventually west will put the sun in our eyes so I guess that’s maybe the logic we’re supposed to realize? If so, that’s pretty convoluted..
