So, I’m going on holidays starting next week. I’m gonna attempt to pre-write all these posts so I can just plonk them here in this thread once a week, but there’s every possibility that the posting schedule is going to be a bit… imprecise.

Anyway, on with the show. The exterior of Yuigahama Station is still being played by Gokurakiji Station on the Enoden Line. Whether the stairs on page 8 are real, I still haven’t been able to determine, but the Kamakura area is certainly hilly enough for it.

Page 13, the historical figures mentioned are Wernher von Braun and Alan Shepard

Thank you for your dedication to the cause, even when heading on your holidays! いつもお世話になる :folded_hands:

I clicked on your Wernher von Braun link and clicked that this is one of the important characters in the TV show For All Mankind. I think Alan Shepard is mentioned in the the show too, but not a main character.

Great conclusion to the chapter - 宇喜多万里香は…二人いる!Still feel like the author is going to take their time giving us the full story on this though…

Page 42, nice callback to the カンパネルラの森 flashback chapter there in the last panel…

That’s… pretty much it for notes this week. Though, a quick flip through the volume suggests that the rest of the notes posts for this thread are likely to be similarly concise.

That was a flashback chapter? I need to go back and look at that again. I’d tried googling カンパネルラ assuming it was from a famous book but I got nothing. Except a song by Kenshi Yonezu but not one of my favourites from that album.

Chapter thoughts so they are not going to give us the two Marika reveal quickly but we got a bit more info this week. The shared memories between the two is not something strange and supernatural - she just read the other Marika’s diary!

Hope you are enjoying your holidays Belthazar!

Mission 32

So it’s confirmed she’s a clone. Presumably the medical condition that they both have is genetically inherited, it would be unlucky for them both to have the same acquired disease. That’s pretty mean to create a clone of someone knowing they will have the same severe medical condition, even if the medicines have got better.

Does Asumi not have her own mobile phone? I love that in this imagining of the future, Asumi ends up having to call Kei on a landline. The author was spot on with mobile phone batteries still dying on people though!

EDIT - I love it every time Fuchuuya says ったく. Reminds me of Charlie Brown!

Oh, quite. Unfortunately, while on holidays, days of the week don’t exist, hence the slight lateness of this post. :face_with_tongue:

Haven’t had the opportunity to read this chapter in detail yet, but on my previous casual glance through, I didn’t really spot anything to write notes on. But yeah, loving that flip phone as the heights of cutting-edge technology.

On page 112 Kamogawa dad says he’s picked up a 八尺玉のかけら. The comment is ignored and then nothing more is said about it.

There is a dictionary entry for 八尺瓊勾玉 (Yasakani no magatama) which is one of the three sacred treasure (imperial regalia of Japan). A magatama is a prehistoric “comma-shaped” bead or jewel which in certain parts of Japan are found in large numbers at excavations. So my guess was that he’s found a fragment of a magatama - and referring to it as a Yasakani tama.

Presumably most people would be interested in such a find (perhaps like finding a fossil fragment?) although Fuchuya is in a grumpy mood and pays no attention.

Or I may be completely wrong. Looking at the picture he could just be half way through eating a croissant…

Pretty sure he’s picked up a bit of litter that Fuchuya dropped along the way, and he’s being facetious in calling it a sacred treasure.

Well that would make more sense. At least I understand the reference now
