にゃんにゃん - Kitty Detectives - Vol. 1

That is wonderful!

Purchased mine from BookWalker

Yay it arrived!!!

I just ordered a copy from amazon.jp It’ll probably arrive too late, but I’ll try to catch up with you then.

Just ordered mine! I won’t get it in time but I will try to catch up once the book arrives!

mine got damaged in transport, apparently :sob:

they’re sending a new one, but now it’s even less likely i’ll get it in time :disappointed:

WHOA! Estimated delivery August 7th at the earliest?! Did I select the wrong delivery…? First I get like four things wrong on my review because I pressed enter too quickly, and now I’m buying stuff before checking the estimated delivery… I’m just all OVER the place this morning… :frowning:
Oh well. Even if it gets here really late, I needed something to read other than Chi’s Sweet Home anyway. Still overall happy.

Oh dude, that majorly sucks! :anguished: Fingers crossed that they have really, really good service… :pensive:

Things usually ship much quicker than Amazon.jp claimed. Mine estimated a month or so, and I got it in less than a week. That’s how it has worked when I’ve ordered things that were in stock over the last few months.

I’m looking forward to reading this! I’m glad it’s a nice hardback book.

That is awful, but like @Talena said, things usually arrive much quicker than they suggest. And we’ll be going at a good slow pace so you can easily catch up if it is late.

Mine had a similar shipping date, I was told it will be shipped in 1-2 months. But then just a few days later I got a mail stating it will arrive sooner; It’s coming on Monday! =D

Oh awesome! So I guess when they say 1-2 months they’re just preparing us for the worst case scenario or something. :relaxed:

I’m guessing it’s their “not currently in stock, lets just add a number” =P

Clearly they subscribe to the Montgomery Scott method of estimating times - always state a time that’s twice as long as you expect it to take, that way when you’re done sooner, they’re impressed.

1-2 months is their display-text for “not in our warehouse and not (known to be) in that of our primary supplier”.

If it’s still in print and not waiting on a new print-run, it just means they can’t be sure how long it’ll take. (I did have to wait about a month and a half for some books from The Japan Times because I caught them right after what I presume was a school-semester rush, but many other things have shipped within a week)

Amazon.jp was amazingly quick - they already shipped mine, and it should arrive by Thursday. Yay!

Debating joining for this but I’m only a level に. The level いち guy above tho giving it a go is quite motivating tho 草. Just afraid I’ll get the book and be completely lost

Can you read ひりがな and カタカナ? If so, you’ll be okay. When you get the book, just go to the first page of the story and start there. Our discussion doesn’t start till Sunday, but here are the first two sentences of the book, just so you can see if you can cope. Don’t use a dictionary or anything, just read this and see what you can understand:

あたしの名は はなえ。絵本の店「トム・ソーヤー」を やっている。

When the discussion starts on Sunday there will be over a hundred people reading this along with you and pretty much all of them ready and waiting to answer your questions and problems! We need your questions! So yes, if you want to read a Japanese book, this really is a great opportunity for you!

Just to extend, the book also comes with ふりがな, meaning that you should be able to see how to each kanji is pronounced, search for it in the dictionary and so

Oh yes! Good point! I just took that for granted and forgot to mention it! Thank you @guillepolito!
