Why Memorize The Readings In Hiragana?

Sorry this might not be the right way to do this but its getting frustrating.

As far as my eyes see I’m typing in the same thing but it keeps saying I’m wrong but if i copy paste that same answer when it asks me again it says I’m right. This isn’t letting me progress.

じょう and じよう are not the same thing. Pay attention to the size of the character in the middle. The pronunciation of these two is (roughly) “jou” and “jiyou” respectively.

It’s generally recommended that you learn hiragana before starting wanikani, otherwise I imagine it can be quite difficult.

Cool. I seem to recall it crashed my browser or whatnot. Probably just a fluke, cheers anyway.

to write “じょう”, write “jou”.
to write “じよう”, write “jiyou”.

Oh wow that makes sense. I can read Hiragana right now but I didn’t notice that size difference there. Thank you!

No problem! Those small characters give a lot of people trouble at first.
