Hmmm… of all his appearances those are the only two times we see more than his helmet and robes in Ch 1 so what I meant was the full frontal opening the robe looked uncharacteristic to me… but anyway here’s another shot of just his arm from p35 comforting Frieren, this was sweet
Maybe I was having an especially sentimental day, but this page broke my heart.
それでは、お先に。I had to stop at that panel and let myself cry. It really felt like the line had a double meaning – obviously ハイター is heading back, but it’s probably the last time フリーレン will see him.
P39 → Well, doesn’t he imply with the dulling of the axe in battle, and that he had an unexpected long life that also he’s become old, and this emphasizes just that a bit? I mean, old people tend to lose muscle mass, if they don’t train.
Argh, emotions. Why? We’re not even that far into the story yet.

「二人とも顔を良く見せて。これで最後になるでしょうからね。」
So for this bit I think Heiter was saying “Both of you show your faces (= come visit me) often. This will be the last time (that we meet).” However, I think it would make more sense if there was like an “otherwise” or something in that second half that I can’t find. Or is that just implied from the context? Or (based on how the conversation continues) is Heiter telling them to visit each other because it’ll be the last time they see him because he’ll be dead soon from a life of drinking lots of alcohol?
Page 39 was also difficult, but thanks to the discussions people already had I think I understand it.
I didn’t think 顔を良く見せて was meant as “come visit” and more “let me take a good look at your faces” - since they may not see each other again, he wants to look at them properly so he can remember them.
Yeah following what @Jintor said, overall she’s saying “even though I knew that human lifespans are short, why didn’t I think of getting to know him better?”.
Is it just me or this week was a lot easier than the others? Except for the last exchange with Eisen… Maybe it is that I have more energy to read now, the vocabulary sheet was indeed a handy.

Bottom panel, I am still catching up with this explanatory んだ, I know what it means but could you explainme anyway how does it fit here? Im not sure explaining to what reason comes this explanationんだ. Also, what does the だろう here means with the んだ?
MAJOR SPOILER, do not open unless you already have watched the anime
Now that I am restarting the story I come to think… isn’t here the only time we see Frieren cry ??? !!! I don’t remember her crying even when her master died… was she crying when her family died?.. I also don’t think so but I can’t remember well… anyway a big demonstration of emotion or face emotion for Frieren in the whole story
Now the words of her master have more meaning “one day you will make such a mistake that you will regret and start to want to know more about humans”
Page 38-39
What does the さ at the end of the sentence mean?
church situation
I was reviewing the chapter and so… she seems pretty calm before the mean commentaries of this ladies so makes me wonder/second guess why is she crying…
Was she super sad about himmel’s death but couldn’t contact with the emotions till this commentaries came up?
She started to cry because of the commentaries, and not the situation itself
It kind of surprised me her face of shock, she is always so imperturbable. WARNING, SPOILER and as you see so on in the history she is kind of cold hearted with a lot of situations, not on purpose of course but because this long life that elfs have and their different perception of things. Having seeing this scene for second time it kind of surprises me, to see her … being sensitive
