I wonder if it will ever be explained / mentioned again or if the author just didn’t want to go 100% stereotypical in the “every surface was occupied by papers and books about magic” characterisation.
Oh good point, as I wrote the previous comment I thought it was weird that I didn’t remember doubting it while reading the book but if it’s mentioned “objectively” by the narration it makes sense.
I guess that wizards may also be “jacks of all trade” in that world, expected to solve all sorts of problems and not just dragon-hunting, but maybe it’s just a Monica thing.
Yeah, I also thought about that, but I really can’t see Monica playing political/economical advisor or the like. Or really wanting to do any work that involves talking to or interacting with people. It seemed like her only contact to the outside world is the regular goods delivery and that even her colleagues only vaguely know where to find her. Although I guess it is unexplained how those papers find her then. (Magic?!)
Thinking about it, can you imagine how much despair she must’ve been in when she realized that her “I don’t want to talk in front of people, so I’m gonna do the impossible and learn chantless magic” made her famous and much sought after? I bet she wished she had dropped out instead

I also thought that it would be weird if it’s him on that account. Especially considering that he already seems well accquainted with her and probably has seen grand magic from her a few times before, so why would that be the thing that finally can be his 夢中になれるもの?
It’s a pity that Louis’ picture is in greyscale and his eye color isn’t mentioned, so we won’t know whether he has “碧い目” like the man at the end of the prologue.
