I don’t ever use the example sentences (as I only discovered this week they existed ), so I don’t have a particular preference, but I see the use. I definitely would disagree with simply making the example sentences space, but having a second version that is spaced seems fine to me, since you can choose whether or not to ignore it.
Personally, I think spaces make life harder for reasons said above, especially consistency. If I see spaced out Japanese, especially romaji, my brain just dies if two words I’d normally consider combined are separated or vice versa.
