I have a red durtle in my study streak counter. What does it mean? I’m sure I have completed my reviews for that day.
I’m also interested in this, I have a very sweaty durtle on the day that I did only a few reviews, I guess he was getting worried, but it still counts as a day I guess as my streak continues
Btw, I love the streaks feature, the extra motivation it gives to not break the chain is helping me a lot to keep going

I love a good Easter egg mystery! I just got the red durtle, so I’ll add my context to help eventually decode this mystery.
My suspicion is that it is red because I burned some items today (exactly twelve, for reference). However, that is a complete guess, so I am going to add any other relevant context I can think of to help, and we can compare notes.
Last week, according to my heat map, Monday was yellow, and Tuesday through Friday were red. It was then a three day weekend, and I do Wanikani at work, so I put it in “vacation mode.” Tuesday was a red day, Wednesday and Thursday were dark red days (100+ items), and today was a red day. I got a red durtle for today.
I noticed that I had done lessons every day this week except today, so I did 5 lessons today, but the durtle color did not change.
I have not leveled up recently, but I am getting close to finishing a level. I still have one locked kanji. All radicals were unlocked already, but one is not yet gurued.
I can’t think of any other relevant context. Looking forward to seeing how this (and other durtles) actually work!
My strawberry durtle showed up on a day where I did nearly 200 fewer reviews+lessons than the day before. It sounds like it might have been similar for you too?
I don’t think so. Yesterday, I did 121 reviews, and this morning I did 88, and that’s when I got the red durtle, which I just realized is indeed a strawberry, so thanks for that!

I got a red durtle today. I leveled up. I have done 30 reviews and 29 lessons today. I have 115 items lined up to review. No burned items.

i think there should be one single thread where we try to figure out what the special durtles mean 
the thread that was linked here earlier has a more general title, so maybe that one? or maybe a new one called something like “special durtles and what they mean”? (there’s more than just the strawberry one)
if only we could see our whole history of durtles, not just a week

I’m pretty sure the berry durtle shows on the 84th day, but not sure if there are more conditions. I got mine yesterday
And I’ve seen a couple other posts where they got it on the same day

I think it is highly likely that the special durtles are coded to appear depending on how long your streak is.
