I was wondering how Sugar Mountain would be horror and now I have my answer. I’m looking forward to seeing how this works out. Arcs like this always make me wonder why on earth people think JoJo is a battle anime/manga
One chapter of 作りたい女と食べたい女1 today too. Love it! Also the first week’s reading for the Natively children’s book club, 時間割男子. They are about the same difficulty level at Natively, level 24 for the manga vs 23 for the book, but the manga feels easier. I find it so hard to compare difficulty levels between manga and books!
I guess if I want to get better at reading manga, I need to read more manga. If I want to get better at reading books, I need to read more books. If I want to get better at reading VNs, I need to read more VNs. I just need to read more! Sounds like a plan to me
Another day, another read! the LN is very interesting so far, I love the theme overall, it feels good to read, admittedly there’s a lot of words I still lack but the fact I get to compensate by learning them on the way is awesome, I might raise my cap from 10 words to 20 on anki, because I increase the amount of words by a lot everyday, but it also depends on how much I read, naturally
A good end of the week on the reading side, I can certainly feel the progress taking place and the deciphering is getting even more enjoyable.
Also I’ve looked at the post readathon content and it seems I’ll be able to graduate from 2 sentences to a full VN screen per day (~4/6 sentences) from the 23rd onward without drowning in vocab .

I played more Granblue Fantasy Relink running around, fighting bosses, enjoying the scenery. The game is more fun than I expected. there is hardly any filler content during the main story.
I’m going to pause 薬屋 for a little bit as I feel I was starting to overload on it.
Half of the week’s Bocchi reading in the morning, will try and do the rest this evening.
Finished Yotsuba7, couldn’t stop, too cute
Started 月出づる町の人々, which seems to so far be a set of loosely interconnected stories in a city where various people with characteristics based off myth and legend (werewolves, medusas, invisible girls etc) go to school and hang out. It’s fairly enjoyable.
So - work days. Has actually gone ok. I’ve read a reasonable amount after work each day (or before, which is much easier as I’m not tired yet! Only works for evening shifts as I’m not a morning person).
Biggest thing for me has been catching up to all my manga clubs. I’m now in about 8 as of today, plus another couple I’m reading alone.
I’ve caught up to the advanced dictionary, and slowly finishing the last of the intermediate.
Goals for this week - continue to keep up with the manga clubs and aDoAJG. Maybe finish the aDoIJG? Catch up to the club for 明日の世界で星は煌めく.
Then for the readathon I’d like to also read a story of 嵐のピクニック and maybe the Spy Family LN. Maybe more.
Oh and I also decided to add the ABBC 10 minute scary stories to the mix! A bit nostalgic as my first WK book club was the science stories grade 2 reader.

I finished Granblue Fantasy Relink. It was a nice little game, way better than most bloated nonsense games released today. I love the main character, she was awesome. Finally a main character I can relate to. Actually it felt like a Final Fantasy game. Of course after you finish the game there is lots of optional content but I don’t think I will ever have time to do it all. The only think I didn’t like was the damage check when fighting the last boss. Depending on your choice of characters it may be impossible to do enough damage in time.
The japanese was rather easy to understand. There was hardly any complicated japanese used. It’s a great game for beginners who want to play their first game in japanese.
I didn’t actually read as much as I wanted to today, for some reason I didn’t really feel like it. I made up for it by getting some textbook study done, playing Pokemon for 2 hours, and watching another 6 Slam Dunk episodes, so I still got plenty of studying done.
I have been saying for a while I want to read more manga - 6 volumes in the last 8 days are getting me there! This has been a down week for novel reading though - it’s been generally replaced by other stuff, at least temporarily.
Started reading 秒速5センチメートル. I still haven’t watched the film (will get around to it after I read the book for a change rather than vice-versa). So far, excluding 2 pages describing a dream (I think) sequence which were quite hard, this is the easiest I think a new book has ever felt. I like the prose (it’s similar to 君の名は。 unsurprisingly), and so far I like the book as a whole. I think my new plan R.e. Readathon is to mix and match this book and すべてがFになる until the readathon, then finish off this one, and get through as much of すべてがFになる as possible.
3 more days until the readathon! My last post for the challenge here will be the day before, so the 19th. It’s been fun!
Two chapters of 作りたい女と食べたい女1 today to finish the first volume, and immediately bought the next volume. I have to know how this story evolves! Also one chapter of 事情を知らない転校生がグイグイくる to get up to date with the Natively book club.
I’m baaack. Had to evacuate from weather messing up my living space. So that has been stressful for the past 1.5 weeks. Looking at my reading tracker on my phone it says I’ve been reading most days, but it certainly doesn’t feel like it. All this stress has messed up my reading routine and thus I’ve not been active in this thread. Situation is better now :3
Keeping track of what I’ve been reading since my last update:
