HOME POST Two chapters ふらいんぐうぃっち today. Learned some interesting words today, yet feeling a bit stuck if it comes to memorizing them. Maybe I will start rereading the chapters the day after, too. I tried Anki a few times, but it just never sticks. Maybe tomorrow I will try reading something more challenging again, even though I am afraid of the Kanji-Lookups

Legend of Heroes Trails of Cold Steel 2
Today I escaped from the enemie’s airship. I like the scenes when Rean picked up the princess and started running while carrying her. It was pretty romantic and funny. After the escape we got our own airship and now are searching for the other students and planning how to liberate our school.

Read chapter 十六 of チーズスイートホーム and an article about かき氷 on 紅芋のかきごおり…(n5)Shaved ice – free web magazine written in easy Japanese language
My first time exploring that website and I must say I really enjoy the format. I filtered by N5 articles and really appreciated how they have mouseover word by word translations so I can try to translate the sentence by myself, then check the actual translation at the end of the sentence. The voice component absolutely helped to ensure I had the correct pronunciations too. I think I will include this website in my daily studies.

unsolicited tip: don’t worry too much about memorising them (unless you have a test or something). if what you read has the word come up a bunch, you will generally learn it. If it doesn’t, well, you’ll get another chance the next time it does in some other work.

Keyword-like things are easier to remember, say, at least for the whole volume of manga or light novel. Some impressive ones may be remembered for days or months. It doesn’t necessarily need to be repeated often.
Idioms and proverbs work this way, even if I don’t really recall them out of thin air.
In contrast, indistinct or unimpressive ones might not be remembered even within one chapter.

two chapters of 3月のライオン (they kissed, i felt nothing. i’m so uninvested in this romance 
), and then a little bit of psycho-pass (update: i read 4 more pages!). struggling to focus again. at least my n1 study books arrived. if only my ems parcel was as prompt…

So sorry to hear this! I loved the anime when it first came out, but it’s been a few years so I’m extremely hazy on the details….

oh no, i loved the anime and still do! and the other stuff around the romance is all still enjoyable, especially the little diversions into the lives of the various other characters. i just don’t see rei and hina as a thing. i don’t think it ever occurred to me that they would heading anywhere other than platonic tbh, all the developments on that are post-anime (afaik)
(tho, disclaimer, i do struggle spotting romance in things in general, so maybe it’s actually quite good and it’s just me having an aromantic struggle )

January 17th - Home post
ふらいんぐうぃっち and Aokana today as always, plus a little here and there from different manga. I want to find another series to read, something a little harder than ふらいんぐうぃっち, but not too hard. Something without furigana maybe. Having so much fun going through the different lists and recommendations at Natively. One thing’s for sure - I’ll never run out of materials to read!
