Iām level-upping (levels > 10) in 40-60 days on average. If I was taking new items any more frequently, I couldnāt digest them and really learn them. Wkstats show 85% for my accuracy.
It has been 2 years now when I started and Iām on level 18.
This has been far more useful for me than trying to grind through all the 60 levels in a year or some other ridiculous āself-challengingā. And nonetheless, I have barely felt like Iāve been studying, during the whole 2 years, Iāve been exhausted of the reviews or the queue only like less than 10 times. It actually feels more like Iāve cheated because of how easily and effortlessly I have learned a completely new language!
Proudly taking the scenic route and enjoying the trip
Just leveled up to level 24 after a new record high of 111 days!! Thereās nothing wrong with being consistently inconsistent, as long as we keep durtling onwards .
iām back to durtle with a vengeance >:3c
hereās what happened
i came across this thread early in 2022 and was somewhat discouraged to learn that what i thought was a decent speed of 11 days per level was actually considered slow, but that pace worked for me and i kept at it until i got stuck in the 20s
the more new kanji i tried cramming in my brain, the more came tumbling out =__=
according to the record of kanji wallpapers iāve been saving, i was stuck on 24 for months before trying to burn a bunch in order to make the pile less daunting
eventually i gave up on that for several more months until i decided to reset and give it another go
the problem was my yearās subscription was almost over and i only got to level 10 before going into vacation mode in the hopes it would be there waiting for me when i could afford to renew
well, this year i bought a lifetime subscription ^^-
i wanted a fresh start for the new year, so i did that and even got my dashboard looking all pretty~
now that i no longer need to worry about a time limit, i have decided to purposefully slow down to 14 days per level, adding another day every 5th level
at this rate, it will take me about three years to finish, and i think thatās fine
now iām just desperately hoping for the ability to wait until i guru 100% of a levelās kanji before moving on to the next ;-;
After being on and off with wanikani, I finally reached level 30 . Halfway there! I think it took me almost 2 years on the level 20s. Iāve found my sweet spot this year has been 5 lessons per day. Iāve also found I tend to drop off near spring for the past few years (due to life or whatever), so I want to try to keep myself accountable this year. Lets keep durtling
Japanese ⦠canāt live with it, canāt live without it, amirite?
I appear to be in this odd position where I neither have the need nor the time to pursue this kanji thing, yet every time it pulls me back in. So here I am again. This isnāt even the scenic route anymore, itās the path through the jungle where you need a macheteā¦
Iām officially in the jigoku/hell levels! I want to keep myself accountable for the next few levels and crossing my fingers I can at least keep up WaniKani till May (spring is usually around the time Iāve been dropping WaniKani for the last few years). Lets do this
I came back to WK after a 6yr gap, reset to 0 and am now one level below the level I was before I reset (15!).
For some reason, Iām really nervous - this is where I fell off the wagon, after all. And though I didnāt actually remember much of the vocab from before, atleast some kanji felt familiar. Itās going to be a harder slog from here on.
Fingers crossed I stick with it - definitely more consistent study habits (15 lessons/day vs doing all available lessons) and Iāve found stuff to read/watch along with some grammar study. Also, 6yrs older
Still on level 31, but I am posting to keep myself accountable because I feel I have been slipping on the WaniKani end this month. However, I have surprisingly been reading a lot of Japanese. A lot of vocabulary that appeared in past lessons are coming back full force.
The issue is that the text I am reading is unfortunately not fun, but important. So, for the first time in a long time, I feel quite bitter towards reading and even listening in Japanese. Some point Iām questioning why Iām on this journey. Iām pretty sure itās burnout. Iām hoping once I donāt need to read anymore important documents, I will feel sane again
Got to level 32 yesterday! While I donāt have to read anymore Japanese documents, I am feeling the burn out still. Good news is that last year I dropped off on April 21st, so I finally made it past that point. Letās keep it up
Thatās so exciting!! letās gooo level 32!! We got this
In terms of that document hell⦠maybe the silver lining is I feel my reading skills slightly leveled up Looking forward to reading more fun text from now on
Hi,
I am Judith. I am also taking the scenic route, keeping my Guru reviews under 100 and my total reviews for the week under 120. I really appreciate taking it slow and enjoying the Kanji.
My favourite word of Level 8 is ēå° ćććć. I love that it can mean both dough as well as fabric.
I am looking forward to taking the slow hike with the nice view together with all of you!
Welcome!!! Glad you could join us on our durtling adventure.
I think thatās a good plan to have a limited amount of reviews. I also try to keep my Apprentence level around the 50s mark. Hope you enjoy and savour the journey with us all
(Also a side note, I didnāt realize/forgot ēå° meant dough as well Goes to show that you can never stop learning the basics/old materials)
