Hi! I actually started Wani Kani yesterday! I started learning Japanese when I was little, my mom tried teaching me since she speaks it fluently. (She gave up.) All I know now are basic phrases and hiragana and katakana. I’ve spent the years after that learning spoken Chinese Mandarin (I can’t read it though.) I thought learning kanji would help wih chinese and chinese would help with kanji, haha.
