That’s just not true though. This has been studied and viewing content in between SRS stages simply doesn’t negatively affect retention. Someone posted the studies here somewhat recently, I might be able to find them this evening.
If what you were saying were how memory worked, it would be almost impossible for us to learn things without spaced repetition apps, heh. But we become very familiar in life with the things that we’re in constant contact with.

Adding to that, you can anecdotally test that by thinking back to times you’ve been in environments with new words that you would frequently hear (short term jobs, vacations, and the like).
I’ve never known any Spanish, but after using and hearing the dozen or so words that everyone uses at all-inclusive resorts for a week, all of those stuck with me like 7 years later even though I probably haven’t heard them since.
