How Do You Read Manga?

It’s not as bad as you would think! That said it’s not perfect and my own ability to parse had gotten better so Idon’t use it a lot. But in the early days, yeah I’d say the S pen OCR for handwriting was good enough to be helpful. Obviously still leaving a lot to be desired,
and yes - highly dependent on the mangaka’s handwriting , but it normally gave me enough clues I could figure the rest out myself.

It is indeed. It looks something like this in a Samsung tablet (I really enjoy having the pen for lookups):

Up to date instructions on how to set it up can be found in Xelieu’s Lazy Guide. It’s a really nice setup! However, I almost always end up reading on my laptop, since it’s so much more versatile. I sometimes interleave reading with SRS reviews, and it’s much faster with a full keyboard, and it’s easier to look up grammar, try to figure out words/expressions that are not written in a standard way, and it’s quicker to use machine translation/AI to figure out troublesome sentences.

That’s very cool!
Dunno why but I thought Mokuro was extracting the text on a separate side area rather than overlayed on top of the actual text in the manga panels :man_facepalming:

Over the last few days I did try looking for a way to download an older version, but some of the more legit-looking sites weren’t able to get the download going. Had to settle for the newest version for now because I was really itching to start reading haha I think I might just start getting used to reading without too many bells and whistles for now–it definitely didn’t affect my enjoyment of the whole process

See this thread. It has a link from Amazon for 2.4.0. However that version will download versions with unbreakable DRM for some newer books.

Does Wayback Machine / web.archive.org work? (Actually, the link can be found in Reddit somewhere, I think.)
