When you unlock that many lessons upon reaching a new level, only some will actually slow your progress if you don’t do them right away. Even if you want to finish a level in the minimum time. Do all your radicals. Then you have three days until any new progress on lessons NEEDS to be made before your level time will increase.
In those three days, learn the kanji that’s already unlocked (the average available would be about 15 or something idk) and some vocab. The vocab is obviously the least important, but you know how many you need to learn per day to get to 0 lessons by the level ends by dividing them by 7. So after 3 days, you’ll have learned roughly 20 radicals, 15 kanji, and let’s say an extra 20 vocab. You’ll have another 3 days (technically more) to learn the other 15 kanji and the remaining 50 vocab. That’s only 20 lessons a day, and you’ll be up to date for the next level.
Because some vocab are basically the same as the kanji/you’ll already kinda know it, you can learn more at once too. Obviously these numbers aren’t perfect, but you can easily work out how many you need to do per day once you’ve got the important ones out of the way. Personally I like spreading out the new kanji while I can (the ones that unlocked at the same time as the radicals) because I find them more difficult to learn. I do that by flicking my reorder script on and off from kanji first to level first.
I just want to say thank you to everybody that replied! You guys have made all the difference to the way i treat lessons in WaniKani. I used to see my lesson pile and feel like i had to crush them all asap or else i would never make good time with WaniKani. From now on im gonna try out the 25 lessons a day plan not including radicals since there fairly easy. Thank you everyone!
I know it’s been said many a times before but do lessons in smaller chunks really helps a lot. Make sure to spread them out because they will come back at you hard and fast and you’ll be left wishing that you’d spent just a little bit more time on a particular kanji or vocab. Good luck!
I’m sitting at ~140 lessons currently… But I’ve been taking them 5/day for awhile now.
Slow and steady seems to be working for me - I was super sporadic with lessons when I started and didn’t make much progress. My pace is 5 lessons per day (or if its radicals, I learn them all in one or two sessions). Usually end up with anywhere between 60-110 reviews per day, usually in the 60-90 range.
Then again - I’m only able to set aside an hour per day in the evening for WK - which is unfortunate for the early SRS levels.
Edit: May also be worth mentioning, I don’t use any re-order scripts. So, I have to clear all the previous levels vocabulary before the next levels radicals/kanji.
