🌷 2025 Spring Equinox 24-hour Readathon

Hello! It’s Saturday here! I’m starting off with my novel at 65%. I’m gonna do as much as possible and see how it goes~

First novel chapter of today done, that’s chapter 8/12 in volume 6, 20 pages in 45 minutes. Now time for a break for lunch.

I finished my 24 hours yesterday, but I posted all my updates on Natively. Since I was there updating book pages anyway. I’ll repost my updates here if no one minds, now that I’ve gotten a full night’s rest and my brain is functioning again.

And the readathon has begun for me! Just finished my hour of audio listening, so I’ll be moving onto manga next. Reached a nice breakpoint in chapter 9 of 穏やか貴族の休暇のすすめ。 | L32 : ギル has just sworn his undying love agreed to extend his contract with リゼル, so that’s going well. Personally I’m hoping for some more definitely-not-a-harem growth soon; アイン seems like a good candidate.

I’m wondering how the manga adaption is now, too; I would definitely appreciate seeing pictures, and the story is so relaxed anyway I can’t imagine it’d be hard to adapt…

Edit: next update: finished 光が死んだ夏 6 | L26. Not a huge fan of reading this as volumes release; it really feels like I need multiple volumes to binge for the full effect, similar to how I pretty much read 1-5 in one go. Maybe I should start stockpiling the manga and only read when it’s finished…

Edit 2: Finished my reread of 魔法少年なつき×らびっツ 2 | L23 ; I might start volume 3 later today so I can catch up with the club.

Edit 3: just about ready to pause for lunch; I’ve been reading just over 3.5 hours now. Read the first chapter of ゲッシング・ゲーム | L24?? , which had an interesting start. Curious where it’s going to go from here. I’ll likely take a break from this book for a bit, see if I can find something easy for pre-lunch, then get back to it after.

Alrighty; had some lunch and finished my next book, 漫画「天官賜福」日本語翻訳版 第2巻 | L33. ( I also finished a chapter of キラキラとギラギラ 3 | L22 just before lunch. Didn’t realize until just then that volume four released last month!! I’m pretty excited!!) Man, I can’t wait under l until the next volume comes out; I have all the currently-released ones in Mandarin, but I can’t do more than look at the pretty pictures.

Edit: Finished キラキラとギラギラ 3 | L22 (don’t tell the readathon police it wasn’t physical >.<;). Volume three was amazing, the second half especially! Would be very interested to hear your thoughts when/if you read it seanblue. I’m pretty sure at this point I’m ready to graduate the series to the “collecting physically” status, it’s just so consistently impressed me.

Just under the six hour mark for time read now; I’m starting to feel the tiredness pick up more and more, so I’ll need to transition to consistently easy manga, I think.

Caught up with the week 10 reading of 魔法少年なつき×らびっツ 3 | L23, but I believe we’re pretty much on week 11, so I’ll need to read that as well. Maybe a bit later, though; gonna switch to something else.

Taking a much-needed food break, but I think I’ve found the legendary “weirdly-used furigana”, insofar as as far as I can tell, the furigana given for a phrase was not what the speaker was actually saying, but was context for the reading audience’s use. I know it pops up every now and then, but this is the first time (at least in a long while) I’ve seen a case like that.

Just finished reading 氷の魔物の物語 5 | L25; man that volume was fire all the way through. I love this series, I don’t know why I don’t spend more time reading it.

Whew buddy; I’m tapped out. Just barely squeaked by 9 hours, but it was rough in those last 16 minutes. I just really wanted a whole hour to end on. Read 50% of D.Gray-man 12 | L25 before I started confusing き for か, so not too shabby; I can definitely finish it up tomorrow. (There’s also a lot going on in this current battle I’m on, so I’ll probably need to go back and review a few pages…)

穏やか貴族の休暇のすすめ。 is the book I’m currently reading + listening to, so that’s why it’s the only non-manga on the list. I definitely need to read more of ゲッシング・ゲーム; it’s one of those books that’s interesting when I read it, but then I put it down and don’t think about it for like 6 months. So let’s not repeat that pattern. I found out that the next volume of キラキラとギラギラ released after I finished volume 3, so I snapped it up but didn’t start. Volume 3 was excellent, so I can’t wait to see where the author goes from there. @taiyousea I thought of you when I picked up 氷の魔物の物語. I really need to read more volumes; I’d forgotten how good that series is.

Thanks all! It’s been a blast like always; I love reading everyone’s updates! I love reading a ton of manga and checking them all off during these events, but maybe I should consider switching to focusing on one or two non-manga books in the next event. My stamina for jumping around many different things is quite good, but I am absolutely certain my numbers (especially time-wise) would look a lot different if I just focused on a single novel or something.

I know! I submitted it for the BBC but hasn’t seemed to garner interest

I didn’t remember who had recommended it but knew it was rec from wk… now I know though spoiler, i’ll forget again

The artwork really is great omg that first chapter was this is so adorable…then yanking on he heartstrings then omg this seems bad…then oh no…then misreading something cuz getting tired and thinking uh oh…no wait that’s not what that means…whew… adding in my own suspense … then ok oh but this can’t be good and still more foreshadowing (great first chap)

It would make a good BBC book if peoples were interested (some of the vocab was a little difficult - but also was getting tired) thank you yomitan! Nothing was horrible and would be a good pick for the BBC for sure. At least based on the first chapter.

But this one was - can we pick the a super non frequent word and kanji I’ve seen before SHM

have some stuff that has to get done this morning but will pick up reading again in a bit

it’s been about 2 hours or so, I made it to 75%!
I’m on page 118 (16 pages read so far). That’s about 8 pages (5%) an hour, I see. At this point I’ve made it to my reading time goal, but I can go longer! I should be able to get to 80% in another hour?

We’ll see how long I can go!

I seem to be at a turning point in the book, the main character seems to be experiencing an emotional change in the story and has made a decision that will move her forward.

But no matter, I went to the store and picked up some snacks and treats so all was not wasted. Now it’s time to crack open my book!

I’m going to take a 35 minute break from reading then get the next 2 chapters in before dinner I think.

After about 2.5 hours I’ve finished an additional 12% of this novel, and 20 pages total. I’m going to take a break cos I have some things to do, but maybe I can push further later.
