🌷 2025 Spring Equinox 24-hour Readathon

:tulip: Event Results

Firstly, thank you to everyone who participated, it’s such an exhilarating feeling watching updates roll in while waiting for my own 24 hours to start :face_with_steam_from_nose: Had me gnawing on the bars of my cage, ready to attack some books!! I know there are both celebrations and condolences in readathons when goals are smashed for some but life gets in the way for others. Regardless of your final numbers, I am genuinely so grateful to everyone for making time to add this event to your calendar and come together as a community. The readers of WK are the sole reason I picked up my first Japanese book, your excitement for reading is contagious and inspiring!! THANK YOU :growing_heart:

For those who had their eye on the Results post above, you might’ve been like me and sweated a bit over whether we would meet the numbers set by us back in Winter. I’m pleased to report that we ended up beating our time goal by over ten hours

Here are the raw numbers from each readathon, chronologically:

Event Finishers [1] Time Pages Charas
:sunny: Summer '24 16 43hr 50min 2574 56.5k
:maple_leaf: Fall '24 33 160hr 42min 6426 405.3k
:snowflake: Winter '24 22 137hr 26min 4632 252.3k
:tulip: Spring '25 32 164hr 29min 8204 161.8k

From the numbers, we can see that this Spring Readathon was the second-most participated event, though with the highest time spent reading and the highest page count of any event so far!!

Most importantly, however, are the per-reader averages :relieved: As you can see from the raw numbers, Winter '24 didn’t have the highest numbers in any category. However, the numbers were still so strong that it placed ahead of Fall '24 in terms of the per-reader average in time and pages.

:checkered_flag: Event Avg. Time Avg. Pages Avg. Charas
:1st_place_medal: :snowflake: Winter '24 6hr 10m 210 11.4k
:2nd_place_medal: :maple_leaf: Fall '24 4hr 50m 193 12.0k
:3rd_place_medal: :sunny: Summer '24 2hr 40m 156 3.5k
?? :tulip: Spring '25

But… where did Spring end up? :eyes:
