What was your favorite new vocab word from this week’s reading?
Was there any passage that you found particularly intriguing? Did it resonate with you (either positively or negatively)? Was it surprising? Offer any insight or new perspective? Was it just beautifully written?
Oh wow. We’d been theorizing that there are a lot of parallel between the MC and 美佐子. But this week really focused in on that. I honestly hadn’t expected her to notice, never mind reflect in their similarities and to have that strong a reaction to it.
I wonder what direction her own relationship to ホシオ will take with this new input, and sincerely hope she’ll stay true to her word and not actually kill 美佐子.
I think we only have one more week with these two, right? I can hardly wait!
It took me a while to make sense of アイシアウ (愛し合う). What age was Misako supposed to be again…? What business does a young child have knowing all the local love hotels? Where are her parents in all of this?
Me when I read about the two of them entering a love hotel together…
And of course whatever Murata came up with was going to be weirder than whatever I could’ve imagined! I could especially relate to this reaction, lol
I like how 強烈 is used twice by the way, first for Misako’s (frankly bizarre, lol) desires ( 普通の女の子と、ぬいぐるみじゃあ、あり得ないくらい、強烈に、強烈に、ムータとつながりたいんだよう) and immediately afterwards for the protagonist’s reaction to those desires ( 胃腸が強烈に熱を発している。ふと気づいた。あたしは美佐子に対して強烈な嫌悪感をおぼえているのだった).
I am happy it led to the protagonist coming to the realisation that her own behaviour is pretty grotesque as well. I wonder to what resolution that will lead. I think Misako will probably be safe
