Research Notes on Chapter 62

Me joining for volume one: “I can use something extra on my easy-to-read list. Hopefully it’s not too heavy on sports.”

Me after reading this week’s chapter: “It’s over already? It was just getting good!”

Thoughts:

I’m not 100% positive, but if she’s singing along…

…it would make sense why she’d want to go to a concert.

She can sing without being heard

I missed her holding a finger up for “one more time”. Only caught it looking over the pages just now.

Her expression.

Hey, I can understand these words! My Japanese must be getting better every day.

Me: “Is it all right if I read ahead a chapter?”

Is she aware she’s becoming more bold?

He sure must have confidence in his inherited fortune-telling if he told a student she’d be reunited with her long-lost brother.

I’ll admit, I wasn’t expecting to think much of this series when we started, and early on it was mostly just an easy read I’d come back to each week. But I really appreciate how the characters feel genuine, with developed motives and reasons for their actions. The main characters don’t feel like tropes where you know in advance what they’ll do in every situatoin.

re Page 9

I saw the finger, but I didn’t know what it meant until Taiki did it and there was writing saying what the expression meant.

re Page 16

I can’t believe they did this to us. It would have been better if she just said something innocuous! Now I’m going to wish she would just say it again forever.

Hey @javerend, just checking in since it’s been a couple of weeks since the last reading notification post. No pressure though! I know life gets hectic sometimes.

Sorry! I very unexpectedly had to be without a computer or laptop for a bit there (good reasons, not bad!) I will probably be gone this weekend as well, also for good reasons

In case you missed it, here’s a reminder for chapters 63 and 64!

Story comments

The sudden need for Taiki to step up and take the prince role in the latest storyline was kind of cliche, but I’m glad he wasn’t just perfect despite having no practice.

I was wondering what the foreshadowing of that confetti ball was all about, but it made sense in the end. With as much as Taiki was thinking about the kiss, something had to happen. But they weren’t going to do anything themselves, so an external factor was needed.

Chinatsu was pretty openly bummed about it too. She’s slowly showing more attachment to him. The story is definitely setting her up as the main romantic interest, but it’s hard not to feel bad for Hina. She’s trying so hard, but once Chinatsu starts gunning for Taiki for real, I don’t think she stands a chance.

And of course the main thing everyone thinks about at the end is whether they kissed! I agree with whoever said それより心配してあげなよ.

I think we started chapter 65 this week too, so I’ll leave some comments on that.

Ch 65 story comments

I’m glad Taiki firmly shut down the rumors, at least within his class. I actually had trouble understanding what Kyou was saying. Was he suggesting Hina may have overwritten about 1/3 of Taiki’s feelings for Chinatsu with feelings for her? That’s an interesting way to think about it. She’s got quite a mountain to climb though.

Should be back on track now, but i’ll post this one a lil early just in case.

And Chinatsu finally admits she’s interested in Taiki! Although she stopped short of saying she likes him. I think Hina is doomed :smiling_face_with_tear:

I was skeptical when the story added another girl to the mix, but it looks like at least for now, she’s just there to confuse things and not actually extending the love polygon.

I was wondering where things were going when we first saw her.

But as it turns out, that only related to one panel from this week, and that's it.
