子 readings

It seems weird to me that all the lower level vocab related to 子 are all using the こ pronunciation instead of し. My guess is this is because all the compounds with easy/simple kanji use こ like 女の子 or 少女?

Still, I wish there was at least one word early on that used the し pronunciation so I could remember it more easily.

You should have 女子 and 王子 on your current level.

Now it would be nice to get one for the す reading before level 46…

I was about to say “shouldn’t 様子 be well before 46?” but it’s not on WK at all, strangely. That’s an extremely common word.

Posted that exact word in the “most recent japanese word you’ve learned”. Probably have come across it around 5 times in the last couple hours of reading.

I’m level 3 and I already know all the radicals for this word… (looked up sheep on Jisho, but that’s also made of radicals at my level) That’s even more surprising to me that it’s not on here at all

I wish Wanikani could teach us to read this sentence:

子子子子子子子子子子子子

猫の子子猫、獅子の子子獅子。

Oh my god. This is genius!

but 子 doesn’t seem to have a の reading. Am I missing something here?

の was often omitted when reading stuff in classical Japanese iirc
so
子子 子 子子子 子子 子 子子子
ネコ(の)コ コネコ シシ(の)コ コジシ
