右利き - Wasn't expecting that pronunciation

Just got to the word 右利き [みぎきき] but the audio sounds more like [みにっき]. I mean, there is totally an “n” sound in that pronunciation. Is this just a weird dialect thing, or is there some sort of commonality to when these sounds when you have two/three similar sounds together?

Congratulations, you are topic 1000 about the Tokyo dialect’s nasal “g” in the audio files!

Sorry… yes, we really do see about one of these a week. I’ve never seen this word as the catalyst though.

I’ll select one of the best answers for you. /ng/ is quite common.

I think that’s because often by the time you reach this vocab word you’ve come across it many times. My first was probably 上がる.

Luckily for me I have a Filipino friend who taught me this years ago, so it wasn’t too complicated.
