Nov 27, Sun of Week 9 of Fall 2022 :maple_leaf:

  • かがみの孤城 (上) 82% => 86% (finished of Ch.7 November)

The volume ends in December, last month of the year, so one more month left.

I listened beforehand, but reading is still a task, almost the same difficulty as before. Thinking about it, I don’t really have to choose either listening or reading as well. Listening isn’t going to be faster. I’d probably do 1x in any case. But, I wish that reading would get more comfortable, so time doesn’t count.

Interesting vocabularies
  • 来世(らいせ) next world. Think of 出世(しゅっせ) and 世間(せけん)
  • 顰(しか)める my hunch isn’t wrong, but another word I am thinking of is 皺(しわ)
    • Weird Kanji, but has Furigana in any case.
  • 窒息(ちっそく) first one is a worthy Kanji. Also about Nitrogen, iirc.
  • 射貫(いぬ)く thinking about the reading, the second one is usually 貫(つらぬ)く, but only the 抜(ぬ)く part is left. The first Kanji can be read 射(い), so the IME also suggested 射抜(いぬ)く.
  • 懇願(こんがん) well, 願(ねが)い, but a kind one.
  • 平淡(へいたん) flat and light ふわふわ feeling
  • 揺蕩(たゆた)う first Kanji is the standard 揺(ゆ)れる. The second one is 蕩(とろ)ける mentioned another day. At least the Kanji’s would carry the meaning.
    • The other one その他(た) shakes like boiling water お湯(ゆ).
  • がくがく the meaning is probably from 驚愕(きょうがく)
  • 更衣室(こういしつ) a room (室(しつ)) to do that thing (行為(こうい)), otherwise explained by Kanji’s.
  • 依然(いぜん) still there, in the beginning, being reliant (依頼(いらい))
  • 無心(むしん)に single-mindedly
  • 履修(りしゅう) taking a training, making a good history (履歴(りれき)), and good performance (履行(りこう)).

Forgotten ones

  • 漠然(ばくぜん)と something in a wide desert (砂漠(さばく))
  • かろうじて barely, about the be turned the table. Kanji form is 辛(かろ)うじて.
