I‘m just wondering why 石神 trusts 靖子 to carry out his instructions without seeming suspicious. What made her go from a kind of unreliable actress in front of the police to a reliable one now? Maybe it’s just the fact that the police aren’t really looking for clues anymore, just for あっさりとした confirmation of 石神‘s confession.
Anyway, I really like the fact that the „P≠NP問題“ comes up again. I like this overarching conversation and 騙し合い between 石神 and 湯川.
That is a good point - but I don’t think he doubts her acting ability as much as he made out in his confession. That was just a reason for him to act secretly even though they had an ‘agreement’. And I suppose the rest is relying on the police being very willing to take her at face value, when all the clues fall into place so nicely.
I think her following his instructions until then would have assured him she’d keep doing so.
石神 and 湯川 - I loved their interactions too. The 人間関係 is strong in this book, in general.
