There seems to be plenty of breaks, which should make things easier. I’ll post a few suggestions later, aiming for about a 17 week schedule, if that sounds about right.

That’d be 14 pages a week, slightly faster than コンビニ人間, which I reckon is fair enough.

In the Tsubasa Bunko version, chapters 1-6 all start one page earlier, and there’s no blank pages between chapters.

We usually aim for ~15 pages a week in the Intermediate club, so this sounds good to me. :+1:

I hope you guys are ready to answer some questions… :no_mouth:

In all seriousness though I can’t wait to start, been loving the beginner bookclub and am curious how I’ll do in this one. Got the e-book Tsubasa Bunko ready, just waiting for my kindle to arrive.

See you in Feb!

Definitely!

If you are unsure whether you will be able to keep up with the pace, by all means feel free to read ahead for a bit, so that you can get a feel for the text and its difficulty. Once you got used to the writing style and vocab, it should definitely get easier.

Awesome tip, I will definately do that.

Thank you!

I already have more book clubs than I can keep up with, but have been waiting for this and already own the book…
Ok, I’ll probably read it slower, but I’ll sorta join

I already have the physical tsubasa bunko version and was starting to read it just yesterday. I might try and hold off on it since it could be good to read with others

Since I failed to get more than halfway through each of two books already, I probably shouldn’t try another. But this one has furigana, and I’ve seen the movie and read the book in English.

I’m highly considering.

Here's my usual kanji breakdown.

This story has 1,492 unique kanji in it. Counting duplicates, there are 22,445 kanji total.

Anyone who’s reached WaniKani level 10 should recognize half of the overall kanji appearing in the story. (:crabigator: has been kind to us.)

Completing level 22 brings you up to the 75% mark, and level 43 is the 90% mark. Finish up level 60, and you’re at 97%!

There are 144 unique kanji in the story not covered by WaniKani. In order from most common to least common, these are:

(Note: The first, 瀧, is a character name.)

One of the protagonists, in fact. :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, sure, if you want to give it away

On the long run, this will be too fast for me :sob:
I just stopped the time I need for one page (mostly looking up vocab…). It’s ca. 30 minutes, making at least +1h of reading a day (which will totally crash my daily schedule!)
However, I’ll do what I can :muscle:

Anyone know how the link above differs from this version of 君の名は in terms of language/dialogue, etc? The one I linked (and have) is broken into three volumes and is ~150 pages (3 chapters) per volume.

What you linked looks like the manga version to me? This book club will read the light novel (i.e. just text, no images).

Can’t speak for the grown-up edition, but the Tsubasa Bunko version has images. :stuck_out_tongue:

I flipped through the first two chapters of my „regular“ edition but didn’t encounter any images. :woman_shrugging:

Visual guide to releases

Book without furigana (being read in the book club):

Book with furigana (being read in the book club):

Manga (not being read in the book club):

Bilingual manga (get this and don’t tell anyone if you want to pretend you can easily keep up with the book club  )

I know I won’t be able to keep up with intermediate speed, but if I can read through chapter one in 2021, I’ll consider it a personal accomplishment =D

Thank you, that makes more sense now.
