Hi all. New user here, I have a question. So… I typed “hachi” on my western keyboard, it appeared in katakana as you can see in this pic, and was marked as wrong. When the review came up again 2 min later, I did exactly the same thing, typed hachi… but this time it appeared as hiragana and was marked correct. What happened, how can I avoid this? (and really both should be fine, right?)

Yeah, probably you had caps lock on. When they have katakana vocabulary, you can write hiragana equivalents instead, but I think that’s because they explicitly put that in the “allowed” list. I don’t think they’re interchangeable generally.
