What to do when are too busy for lessons

my work has gotten crazy the last several days, I find I’m only doing reviews to try to keep up because I’m afraid i wont have time to learn new lessons. Is this a bad way to do this? what do others do to keep up when life outside of wanikani gets too crazy… I usually do 10 -20 lessons a day. Now I’m a week without any lessons.

That’s perfectly reasonable IMO. Failing to keep up with reviews is bad, but not doing any new lessons if you don’t have a lot of time is fine.

Never, ever, ever do lessons if you have trouble getting through your reviews. Use this time to do reviews and really learn the stuff from the first 10 levels!

Is there a percent correct thatcyou guys recommend someone obtains in reviews before moving on. Im ususally around on average 85% correct on my reviews. Should i be aimimg higher?

I just aim to get to 0 pending reviews. Sometimes I’m busy and get a lot wrong, sometimes I can really spend a lot of time on reviews and get more right. Some levels are harder and some are easier. Just do what you can, aim to get to 0 reviews at least once every day, and the SRS will take care of the rest.

I agree, focusing on the percentage correct leads to madness, as far as I’m concerned, because it’s mostly out of your control anyway. Instead, focus on finishing your reviews, and if you feel like the review sessions are going badly, stop doing lessons for a bit, and at most figure out which reviews are tough and put some extra time into those words.

As @Marifly says, don’t really worry too much about it and trust the system. If you make too many mistakes then your review load will increase due to the shorter intervals, so use that as an indicator. If you feel like your review load starts to become unmanageable then you can think about slowing down with the lessons and focus on getting those reviews out of the way.

More generally an accuracy of between 80 and 90% is perfect. Lower than this and it may mean that something is not working right and you struggle with retention (although getting there punctually is not a problem, we’re talking about long-term averages). Having an accuracy above 95% means that you’re probably reviewing too much and wasting your time studying things you don’t need.

All the advice above is great.
It’s also a good idea to check your apprentice level: personally, I prefer to keep it at ~100 per day. I suffer if it goes to 120 plus. The input that impacts it is the number of lessons you do and your review success rate, so you can (should) control it as necessary by reducing your lessons (even to zero) until it is at a manageable level. If I can, when I am cutting back, I still like to do one kanji plus one vocab per day, but if my apprentice level spikes, I cut back to zero.
