What recurring characters do you use in your own mnemonics?

We all know Wanikani’s beloved recurring characters like Kouichi for こう. What characters are you using in your own pronunciation notes? Like, I use Ryō from City Hunter for りょう, Kyō from Fruits Basket for きょう, Kon from Bleach for こん, and Kai Ryssdal from NPR’s Marketplace for かい.

Not recurring, but I used Ryuko to remember the meaning of 流行: “remember when it was trendy to watch Kill la Kill”

I might start using Kon and Kyo, cause condor and Kyoto aren’t very memorable

Nice one. I also have some one-offs, like Isamu (Child Emperor) from One Punch Man for 勇む.

Mrs Chou who lives in town is obviously the Landlady from Kung fu Hustle (played by Yuen Qiu).

For reasons that are difficult to explain Edmund Barton - Wikipedia also does kung-fu in my head (憲法 - 拳法 obviously)

I use Professor Layton to remember anything that includes the 且 radical.

I use homer simpson a lot for “dou” or similar “doh” sounding words.
Like for yakedo (burn) I imagine homer cooking yakitori on a bbq and someone asks what he’s cooking and he’s like “oh its yake----doh” and burns himself on the bbq.
