I was reading a manga and the main character is on the phone with a friend and says this word in reference to herself. She’s talking about how she hasn’t gone out much. I tried to search the meaning but couldn’t really find anything. I’m thinking that maybe its suppose to be 屑 (trash) and ニート, so like…an unemployed, uneducated bum? Could this be right? Is this something that’s said? Other opinions?
That’s what I read it as
It is something that’s said (rudely), yes.
Not necessarily uneducated, but not in education, employment, or training (at the moment).
Basically “garbage neet.”
Thanks! I hadn’t heard it before, but I’m glad I was able to figure it out. Thanks for confirming my suspicion!
Glad to have helped.
Out of curiosity, which manga are you reading?
It’s called “ぽぽたむさまのマフマフに埋もれたい!” It’s less of a story and more of a visual journal of the author’s life living with a troublesome pet rabbit.
Oooh, can you share a link to where I can find it? That sounds entirely like something I’d like.
If you say it fast enough, it also sounds a bit like Cousin It.
… Does this character have tons of hair and hasn’t brushed it out of her face?
