Finished, but not that much to say. I still prefer the story line on land, as well as the cast.
Oh, oh, I think that was the sign…
Instantly 2 dead characters. At least now I don’t have to worry about where olcy’s story is going XD. Both murders sound pretty brutal. Suffocation and chopping the arm of for the first one then the poison death, which didn’t read that nice either…
My prime suspect is still エラリー. For one because of his sleight of hand magic tricks, and a big part is probably that I just don’t like guys that have his type of character traits.
Otherwise, I don’t have that much to say about the chapter. The Kanji quiz question made so much sense when reading. I just don’t think I would get it just verbally even if somebody explained it to me.
The section with the quiz questions was a little harder to follow. Seems I’m lacking some quintessential classical Japanese high-school education for some reason .
The poison talk was also pretty lookup heavy since I wanted to know if I know at least some of them. Could have honestly just read over them and gone like “poison1, poison2” etc., it’s just my OCD kicking in and not being satisfied if I don’t know if I read words correctly in my head
There is a 95% chance I’ve added all those poisons to my anki deck at some point. Some of them do come up in other books pretty often though, so hardly wasted knowledge!
So far he’s been filling the detective role, but that’s too straightforward to be right. Making him the murderer instead would be believable in a classic mystery novel, but I think it’s also too obvious for a book like this. So my conclusion is that I don’t know.
